Channels 7 & 9 SD Sport on large screen TV

Now that you can buy a HD TV for about the same price it cost to take the family to the footy or cricket, ever wonder why channels 9 and 7 only broadcast sport in SD. Why channel 9 put 1950’s movies on their HD channel Gem. Why 7mate demographic for males never has sport.

I have written to 7 and 9 telling them what I think (if you left out the swear words I didn’t tell them anything).

Could you all please contact 7 & 9 and let them know how SD on your HD TV isn’t good enough, especially the cricket. Its like going from the graphics on Playstation 3 to the graphics on playstation 1.

I think they are laughing at us.

Seven don't give a shite about their sports viewers. I remember ringing them a couple of years ago complaining that they cut off the Australian Open to go to the 6PM news.

Their response was that people depend on the news. Hmm!

Might also want to send a letter off to Sen Conroy. Part of the issue with which channel they play their sports on is the anti-siphoning act. Yes these channels were stupid to move their HD channels to non-core (i.e. 9 and 7) but some of the sports have to be shown on the "main channel".

The most laughable thing is I can watch NRL on Friday night live in HD on Sky Sport in New Zealand. They still film it in HD!!!

You'd think they could simulcast on GEM or whatever it's called.

No chance! The best thing about the new channels is that there is now something other than sport to watch.

Before you all respond, remember the majority of Australians don't actually like sport as much as you do. You are a minority.

Rather than putting sport on more channels, it should be limited to only the specifically targeted Sport channels. Note, Mate it not a sports channel, it's a male channel, not the same thing.

In the same way, there should be no children's shows on ABC 24, 1 or 2 as they have a specific channel for it.
