would like to hear from any user who has had both units and what is the upside or downside, as a friend is after one or the other.
Thanks

I have both boxes and Vu+ Duo is more complete and better box.....picture quality is very good on Ultraplus but CS has some glitches......but then again thats just my opinion maybe you will like Ultraplus better...lol

ive got the vu+duo and ive had a play with the ultraplus too but in my opinion the vu+duo is leaps and bounds ahead in many ways!!!

Interested to hear more to what makes the Vu 'leaps and bounds ahead' and 'complete and better box'?
What I've found it the 9000 doesn't glitch with the later firmware and plugins. The look and feel of the menus are like a regular satellite receivers so novices can use easily. All cards work in the slots including Austar/Foxtel using MCAS. It's easier to configure if you're not PC savy (no need to worry about how to ftp etc) You can blindscan satellites as well if you're into feed hunting.
If you're a dreambox fan then you will love the Vu+ Duo as it also has Enigma2 based firmware.
Probably doesn't make the decision any easier though for the OP.

As an Owner of an F-9000HD, the only negative comment I can make, is the fussy HDD support. I went through 3 different drives before my box finally settled. I do on occasion get a bit of pixelization tho.
I just wish the 7 day EPG would hurry up and arrive....it's driving me nuts!
Happy Vu Duo owner here. Running a 2 TB Samsung HD. Full 7 day EPG with Cross EPG.
Looking at the price difference (not much) I know what I'd be getting. I cant compare it to the 9000 but I dont think you would find anyone (except hamguy2 ) that has had an issue with the Vu Duo.

the vu+duo has extra options that the ultraplus dosnt have!!! you know the options i mean leroy!!!lol
very happy with my vuduo - it uses the same software as my dreamboxes just easier for backup and image .. great for playing
sounds like the 9000 comes from the other direction closer to a standard stb ..but good card support ..
so I guess .. are you a player .. or have more standard requirements ..will decide your choice

Hi,
my vote will go to VuDuo as it is more suited for people with a love to play with their boxes I've filing that the VoDuo has better support (PLi forum) as well.
Sure, it has it's glitches but it is still under heavy developement, on overall it works. It has working EPG and that is a big plus over the Ultraplus (at least for me)
Ultraplus as it has been said already is for people who want just watch and it does the job. As for EPG, it does not fill "now and next" stright away for every program, you need to tune to get description and that is really annoying.
Personally I would go with VuDuo but it does not make the Ultraplus obsolate , some of my friends are using it and are happy.
Cheers
I want a VuDuo, sniff, sniff a bit pricey for me at present but will get one i can tell you in the future.
When is fathers day I am going to whack in a request for 1
The vuduo will run any card that the ultraplus will run as far as I know. Just needs a little tinkering.
Vuduo owners should try out the latest VTI image too. I am a converted fan from PLI
Satlink is the sole importer and distributor for vuduo's in NZ, google them. I dont know about australia though, but here in NZ they retail for $749 on trademe and include a 500Gb hdd. I would never touch another ultraplus, I started off with one of these and had far too many problems. For a start the sh4 processor is not as fast as a vuduo's mips processor. Also had a lot of problems trying to get my ndz card to read in the slot, and when it did I got pixilating intermittently every hour or so using newcs/mgcamd.
