    Default Auto mount for GPS

I bought a 7 IN GPS from China and the first question i asked the seller was how the mount that was included would work. Unfortunately i got no answer. The GPS works great and was a great price, but the mount for a car was a suction mount that they suggested mounting on the windsheild. It worked fine when attached to the windsheild, but i was not sure if I might get a ticket for that being an obstuction while driving. I bought some commercial velcro and mounted it in the center of the dashboard where it would not be an obstruction to vision. I put velcro on the dashboard and bottom of the suction mount and it worked great. The adhesive strength of the velcro was very good and it works fine. Hope this helps someone with these same issues.

I bought a mount on eBay for $25 (roughly).

(I had a 6" GPS which kept detaching from the glass because of its weight).

It is a Bracketron Dash-mount and sits on your dash like a bean-bag or weighted donut. It sits perfectly well and has never slid or shifted-let alone slid off. A second advantage is no more tell-tale rings on the glass when you put the unit in a safe place/out of sight.

If you have a large dash area they are perfect. In the Commodore it was usable, but not much room left-over in front of it. In my other car there is acres of dash -space for it.

You can see many reviews on Amazon. Apparently somewher in the States you can't attach GPS etc to the windscreen- hence these units are popular.

There are a few manufacturers of similar units.

IMHO they leave the suction mounts for dead!

velcro to the dash...now theres a thought.

like pandorf my gps kept falling off the windscreen due to its weight i just bought a heavier duty mount which solved the problem. i never thought of velcroing it to the dash......ill give it whirl ive got tonnes of space.

In some places you have to mount them at the top of the windscreen in the corner,
Works well and does not block vision.
