Hi Gordon/Dishtracked. Was just about to post ot this subject. Menu - DSD Status DSD SW 2.22.2013 (Feb15 2011). Midware 2.22.2076 (Feb 15 2013). Loader Status Loader Ver 3.19 Sign date 2011-2-23. Have tried reloading and switching all off and rebooting. Still no update. It says most STB will have been upgraded over satellite (by the time you read this message, I presume?). I had the STB on standby before the 14th and on Ch800 since. Any ideas.Thanks.

From what I've seen, there's only glitches on channel change (normal) but the freezing issue during programs seems to have been resolved.

    Default picture-freeze-update

Hi. On Gordon's scale I can still get a 5 and at other times, no worse than the blast from my wife's steam iron. Checked again tonight - no update in DSD.
Sorry - should have asked mtv if he has received the update.

    Tasman,

You have the latest-available update, so you may have a dish/LNB alignment issue, or a faulty decoder.

Tasman, if your still having problems you may need to contact the installer unless you put did it yourself in which case you need to either contact the retailer or UEC as MTV suggests you may have a STB problem.

Hi mtv and Gordon. It was a self install to check the system before installing any. What threw me, was the 14th March Ch800 update. I expected to find an update in DSD dated March not 15/02/2011. Signal strength in menu is 42 (?units). What is say 100% ideal signal? I have only done sats (since the old pirated card days) for myself searching for B1,B3 etc., anything that was free or interesting. I have terrestrial meters but can not afford a sat meter at the moment. Use a $20? signal buzzer and have found to be very useful.
    Thank you for your replies!

Tasman, that setting of '42' (not the Meaning of Life ?) seems to be the norm.
Remember they took weeks to write the program and then of course I dont doubt they did some OTA updates on selected STB's before finaly releasing it to everyone so that Date would be relevant to the completion of the working copy of the Update, not its In use by Date.

Signal quality on the box I have is 39 (on a 65cm dish) and it's working ok.

If you have an old LNB, it may be worth replacing, although having a signal quality of 42 tends to suggest it's working fine.

If your dish/LNB/cablling/connections are ok, then all that's left is an issue with the decoder itself.

I know there have been some UEC VAST decoders that have been faulty and have been replaced.

My signal strength was 86% before firmware update (this number no longer displayed), signal quality is 33 on a clear day and drops rapidly with wet weather. PER error rate is zero and picture is good at signal quality 33. I get pixellation on channel change and have been having various problems (sound drop outs and lip synch) on ABC24. Are you sure that what you're seeing is not just normal VAST?

This is the major problem with reporting possible faults because of the individuals location and possible transmission faults.
I wont have seen 10 minutes of any ABC24, terrestialy or VAST so I cant comment on any sync problems as for the others, the same applies.

The lip sync issue on VAST ABC24 is apparently a problem with the ABC encoding, not with VAST transmission/reception.

ABC has been made aware of the issue.

Just checked. Signal quality 36 and it is pouring and cloud cover is thick. Lip sync on ABC24 is quite bad but it is Kevin Rudd who is being interviewed! Switched around channels and there was no appreciable distortion. There was minimal lip sync on terrestrial ABC24. So on quality I must have got it right. Thanks.

UPDATE: The lip sync issue with ABC24 should be rectified now.

Did a quick check on VAST ABC24. Lip sync still present.

Just checked 12.40pm 25/3 all the VAST 24's and all in total sync including the terrestial one.
Tasman, if your still having a problem then its possibly in your STB.

The lip sync issue seems to be intermittent, as I noticed it was slightly out again, but not as bad as previously.

Pixelation after changing channels, does not seem to be present on any major channels today,

Except on a few of the Regional News Channels

just wondering if other people experience the same...?
