Default Tighting Hand Brake On 92 Toyota Camry

Anyone know how to do this? Is it easy/ straight forward?
Is there just a cable that needs to be tightened?
    Any help would be great

Have you tried braking from reverse, helps auto adjust the handbrake on alot of cars. You dont need to reverse or brake to quickly either normal backing out from the driveway speed's ok, maybe try it a few times and see if it's better.

Are the brakes disc or drum?

Here's the link to the 94 Camry manual, i think it may be the same from 92 to 96.

    Password is pdftown.com

Anyway off hand the adjustment of hand brakes on toyotas.

Most Toyota's have a adjustable nut right next to the handbrake lever, if you open the rubber boot under the lever you may see a nut on a long threaded shaft. Turning the nut in will make more threaded rod appear therefore pulling your cable and making it shorter.
Some cars ive had to remove the console around the handbrake to get to it.

Some cars have a threaded rod you can shorten which inturn makes the cable shorter where the one cable from your handbrake lever joins to the 2 cables branching off to your 2 back wheels from under the car.

Some cars have the adjustment right at the wheel point.

Some cars have drums that self adjust with a ratchet type mechanism inside the drum. They should not need any adjusting inside but can seize up with brake dust and fail to work.
These drum systems still need cable adjustments as mentioned above to compensate for cable stretch.
If they constantly need adjustment chances are the ratchet inside the drum is seized or incorrectly assembled and going off as the brake shoes wear.

Download the manual (im running out of broadband to check myself) and take a look, Toyota manuals are very clear and easy to understand.

    Hope this helps you.

    Just checked my 2001 camry.

Its the silver nut next to my thumb inside the consol next to the handbrake.

Turn it in, clockwise to tighten the brake.

its roughly 17 years old mate sure thats how you adjust it but also the handbreak cables may have stretched a fair bit etc have a look at it tightening mite stop the problem but will only cause more stress on th alredi fatigued cables.

I would think that tightening the cable is the wrong thing to do.
I would replace the worn pads/cables etc instead.

It's a bit like running out of brake fluid cause the pads are worn....no use just adding fluid....something has caused the slackness.?

    Brakes are self adjusting Zed.

The problem is cables and connections stretch in all cars, its part of your workshop service to check and adjust them.

    Thats what the nuts for.

Any signs of fraying or no adjustment left means its time for new cables.

Edit; @Ftoking. When i first got my licence and had no money i use to get the handbrake cable and tie a knot in it to shortern it. When it streached again i would tie afew more in. She lasted like this for years till i sold her.
I dont recommend this today but shows you what sort of stress a cable can take mate.
It also shows you what desperation is lol
