you can only use map changer if your going to use two different map Navteq or TeleAtlas.. it doesnt work on two different version of Navteq..as far as i know
Hi all,
I'm trying to get MapChanger to work so I can swap between versions R17 and R18. I've added the following to sys.txt
Placed the R17 map in content/map and the R18 map and basemap in content/map_nt. Both the folders content/map_ot and content/map_us have been created but are empty.[switchmap]
changer="\Storage Card\iGO8\MapChanger\MapChanger.exe"
1=",map_ta,\Storage Card\iGO8,\Storage Card\iGO8,"
2=",map_nt,\Storage Card\iGO8,\Storage Card\iGO8,"
3=",map_ot,\Storage Card\iGO8,\Storage Card\iGO8,"
4=",map_us,\Storage Card\iGO8,\Storage Card\iGO8,"
;---first path - path to content folder, second - to igo8.exe.
;Examples if maps and igo on the same place:
;4=",map_us,\Storage Card\iGO8,,"
map_ta="Australia R17"
map_nt="Australia R18"
When I run the MapChanger the "Australia R17" & "Australia R18" labels are present. Now if I select Australia R18 and restart About tells me that Australia R17 is still being used and the path is content/map.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA
Greg

You are very close to getting this working because map_ot and map_us have been created by mapchanger.
BTW you can definitely use both maps (R17 and R18) and Navteq as well.
This is what worked for me. Give it a go. You never know your luck.
I would load the latest map (R18) into the content\map folder. Delete your map_ta folder. Load R17 maps into the map_nt folder.
Your [switchmap] entry in sys.txt is correct. It doesn't really matter what maps you have in which folders but what I have explained is what worked for me.
Good Luck

have you got a utility folder in the root directory. if so go to the utility and open it you will see a mapchanger.ini in there change the setting to trace your root directory ie mine is sdmmc\GPS Menu\Menu\primo 1.2\save, sdmmc\GPS Menu\Menu\primo 1.2\Primo.exe. This works and your sys.txt entries are not required. Keep the maps in folders as stated in earlier posts.
Hope it works for you.

Did what you suggested R18 in content\map and R17 in map_nt and deleted map_ta. However setup | about | maps always shows content\map as the path and R18 as the current map.
The mapchanger screen swaps between R17 and R18 being the current map but as I said the about | maps shows R18 is always the active map.
Edit:
Just found a problem. The sys.txt had Storage Card in the pathnames and not StorageCard which is what it should be. What I don't understand is why we place R18 & R17 in content\map and content\map_nt but the sys.txt has map_ta for the teleatlas location not map Why??
I do have a utility folder but there's no mapchanger.ini in there. Any suggestions?
TIA to you all,
Greg

Im assuming you are running iGO8.3 and not Primo?
AFAIK you can put any maps in the folders, just remember what they are when you select.
Heres my sys.txt entry
[switchmap]
changer="\Storagecard\iGO8\Extension\MapChanger\Ma pChanger.exe"
1=",map_ta,\Storagecard\iGO8,\Storagecard\iGO8,"
2=",map_nt,\Storagecard\iGO8,\Storagecard\iGO8,"
3=",map_ot,\Storagecard\iGO8,\Storagecard\iGO8,"

OK. Now you have me confused. How can mapchanger be working if you had a wrong entry in sys.txt? Do you have the total IGO program on an SD card ? In my case I have to use SDMMC instead of Storage Card in the command lines for [switchmap].
If everything is on a SD card, then your command lines for [switchmap] should look like this:
[switchmap]
changer="\StorageCard\iGO8\MapChanger\MapChanger.e xe"
1=",map_ta,\StorageCard\iGO8"
2=",map_nt,\StorageCard\iGO8"
3=",map_ot,\StorageCard\iGO8"
4=",map_us,\StorageCard\iGO8"
I can't explain why my GPS works with the map_ta folder deleted but I assure you that it does and that it swaps the maps between the 'map' and 'map_nt' folders
