    Default Backing Up my Wii Games

    Prob the most newbie question....... do i need an LG drive and one of these models to back up my games?

    * LG-8163b
    * LG-8162b

    You could go for a USB Gecko instead of a dvd drive.
    What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

    You connect the Gecko to your second memory card slot of the Wii (GC mem card slot), connect the Gecko to PC using USB and rip the game using the included software

    Its actually quicker than the LG drive!

    sounds like the go. so if ive backed it up and wanted to do a copy of my backup, can i do a simple burn of my backup or do i need the iso saved on my pc. surely you dont have to rip it everytime you wanna do a copy?

    it will create an ISO on your pc where you can keep and burn whenever you like

    My experiments with different methods showed that the SD Gecko was 2 to 3 times faster than either USB Gecko or LG DVD (which were both about the same). In real terms, the USB and DVD backups took about 2 3/4 hrs, but the SD was maybe 45 minutes.

    that was when the usb gecko first came out
    its now about 1.5 hours
    advertising is for stores without a reputation (and those that are not a tightass like us)
