I tried to call them but was on hold for 20mins & gave up ?

Are any of the ethnic packages included in the free offer...eg just say you only want the greek package and nothing else?

I think with Austar stuffing-up peoples enjoyment using third party decoders/PVR's with legit subs (forcing use of the MyStar; - Yucky, vomit-death), has folk looking at SelecTV a little more.

I spent part of today installing SelecTV for a family friend who had cancelled Austar service (too costly/pointless etc), they seem taken by Wine Channel and are happy to have Ovation. They were giving up pay tv completely, but let em know of Select @ $36/month, 'much better' they thought etc, happy enough for what they get on a tight budget & mortgage.

Glad I don't work in this field though.

With MyStar you can't record the programs to a DVD or a CD. This is what I was told when they replaced a faulty settop box the other day. I then asked if it was illegal to to use my DVD recorder, the installer said no. So I said I don't want it and I got a atlas with a new card 4102 ..... .... the old one was 4005 .... ... And they said that when we go camping again we can't take our card and the new box with us or they will take it away. It has to be used only at the installation point.

The wouldnt have a clue where you used it as it is a receiver and does not send any signals. Theoretically they could install GPS tracking devices but that would cost more than the cost of the STB, and the GPS tracking devices do NOT work well indoors, especially with metal roofs. Or they could install a return line using the phone connection, but they would have to pay the installers to do that, more money. Its simply not cost effective for them to install any active tracking, so take the box anywhere you like.

No I dont sell Selectv cards , I have long since given up trying to sell a product for a company that doesnt respond to dealers emails.

I'm with OZfiles, and in the past I've taken the card and used it in a third party box when on hols.

Austar's T&C's, after long discussion at DVT about them, certainly don't allow for trips with the card and or either provider box, or third-party. Shame then the literal thousands of caravanners, 4WD and car tourists et al that do.

Not tested at law this respect of their T&C's, but who could be bothered forking out to 'test' that travel 'inability' at court?!

* Shame Selectelly treat/ed its resellers per Sanity's experience, they *must* improve that side of the promotion, esp when the blokes a major sat forum fella, that means 'exposure' - good and bad.

I wouldn`t recommend e-bay as i`m having problems atm over a select card which I am yet to receive.
