    Default STB dropout ?

Hi guys - my new UEC stb will occasionally just shut down as though it was turned off at the wall - then starts, reboots, finds channels and the info channel appears - anybody else having this happen ? is it normal ?

I think some comments along these lines appeared on the forum earlier. I think that the initial firmware would not update reliably unless you used a 10700 lnb. The UEC guy advised that this is now fixed... but you would still need to use the 10700 lnb (which is less prone to frequency drift) until you have successfully updated the firmware OTA.

So the symptoms you describe match the situation where you have installed with a universal or 11300 lnb which may have too much frequency drift and consequently cause the box to fail in update attempts... on failure to register or update the firmware OTA, it will re-boot, re-scan etc.

You might have to shift the box to a location with a better lnb initially, unless you can get a updated firmware to load via usb (something I have no knowledge about).

The other less likely possibility is that you box is faulty.

    regards

Have a 10700 lnb setting and still getting the random rebot as described (amongst all of the other unresolved issues inc pixellation after channel changes, previous channel overlapping changed channel for a period, HDMI version 1.4 incompatibility etc).

    Bugger!

The 10700 lnb fixed my box... as far as OTA registration update and OTA firmware update was concerned. Sorry to hear this hasn't fixed yours. I trust that you have the dish pointed nicely with a reasonable signal and a serviceable lnb (low frequency drift).

There is a firmware upgrade in the pipeline for HDMI compatibility. I've still got the other two problems. The lip synch stuff is mainly an ABC issue, I beleive.

    regards

Same here, so it's not an isolated box issue.

    I have experienced it too,

got the STB replaced by UEC, & it is now fine ....

UEC said it was probably due to some "heavy handling" (by Australia Post, etc...)

(maybe, exercise your warranty rights......if they get too many returns, they will be forced to look into it)
Got to question the build quality of the receivers then if that's the case! I forgot to take note of where they are manufactured when I had one in my hands. Can someone have a look pls?

    Yep... it does.

Nothing indicating place of manufacture on the packaging though.

What happened to your sexy pictures? They do seem Chinese to me but you can never really tell.

These have probably travelled 10,000 miles from where ever UEC has them made so why blame APO or Courier on this end of the journey when it could have been crap from the day the wave solder machine did the first sweep.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Default drop out at 7.33pm this evening !

Our VAST box had drop out then a reboot sequence at 7.33pm this evening. The sky is clear and crisp here in S.E. Qld. Did anyone else experience this drop out. The channel I was on was ABC1 Qld. Am using a uni LNB and box has had the March updated download.
Is drop out still an issue for VAST ?

    Cheers
