cant remember the model , but it was a fairly recent one , 3 years at max.
she was hoping they would cover any repair under goodwill but they didnt give a toss. I believe that they only sold the dampers and suspension straps as a whole kit but either way they only offered 30 days on the repair so she cut her losses and bought a Simpson for less than the repair cost.

Either way if they sell thousands of these dampers wouldnt that tell the maker that there is a major problem and that they should engineer something better quality ? Not everyone has the skills to pull the lid off and check / replace dampers and the customer is 100% reliant on a service tech who is out to screw them for every cent

I guess not enough customers realize that it's a mass problem to put enough pressure on F&P.
The older basic models use a rod that has a plastic damper which have an indefinite life span.
But the old Aquasmart models used rods with the metal dampers which had a limited life span, making the problem know of near 20 years ago.
Sadly the current model F&P top load washers have no other significant design weaknesses. Motor controllers no longer self destruct like the original P9's used to.
F&P have ruined an otherwise near perfect washing machine.
