Default Austar box to digital TV problem

I would like to distribute my Austar channel throughout my house via the RF output on the Austar box ( I understand all Tv's will be watching the same program). The only problem is that all my TV's are digital and as far as I can tell won't accept a analogue signal. Is there a way around this?

No you cant as the frequency comming out of the back of the Austar box will not be able to be tuned in on digital tv's. I would recommend that you get an AV sender and send the audio video to the other tv's. The come in a pair and cost about $60 from Jaycar.

Your TV should still have a UHF tuner for the analogue transmissions. Does the Austar box allow to change the uhf channel on it? I would have thought it would be firmware defeated so you can't do what you want to do, they would prefer to rent you a 2nd box.

Thanks for the advice. Think I will have to resurrect an old VCR and put it at each Digital tv to decode the rf signal with output to the TV via component. Not the best setup but should work until something better comes along.

I'd be surprised if that was the case.

Colin 2905 you are correct My Philips digital TV can pick up the signal. Thanks for the tip. Only problem now is the Humax HD box in my home theatre.

Why, what are you trying to do with it?

Are the "digital TV's" that you have only SD, and you want to feed them an HD signal? If that's the case, I think you'd be better of with separate HD STB's for each TV; starting price these days is ~ $100.

Or is your "Humax HD box" more than just a STB?

I would like to watch austar on my Humax HD box which is connected directly to a projector. I did an auto scan and it is not picking up the Austar signal. Unlike my Philips digital television which picked up the channel instantly.

Then you would need something similar to what max gain said. Forget it. Why can't you run a cable directly from your Austar box to your projector?

Just run a standard RCA plug'd cable from the austar box to the projector.
    Ie, the yellow one.

You can use coax cable, or microphone cable for this. Altronics sell mic cable cheaply, or you can go to your local electrical wholesaler and buy coax very cheap.
Get plugs from jaycar or similar.

I'd suggest something better than composite, if the Austar box has a spare S-Video or component output. How long would the cable need to be, to get from your Austar box to your projector?

better yet, if your projector has component in and your austar box had scary, you can get a scart>component converter...its the best PQ you'll get out of most sat boxes.

I'd recommend such a cable from a place like selby acoustics, not over the top in price, and super quality. They also sell on ebay

You can't use Austar in 3rd Party decoders anymore. So you won't be able to get Austar through your Humax.

My understanding (perhaps I'm wrong) is that lubi's Humax HD box is a terrestrial one, and he was wanting it to receive the RF output from his Austar box (which is analogue), which of course the Humax can't do.

Sure, you can spend a few thousand dollars or so on a DVB-T modulator, but lubi still hasn't told us why he can't just run an AV cable from the Austar box to the projector.
