Default Pls help fix my silver ...

Ok.. hoping someone can help me here.

I have a silver thats "not working".

My goldie works a treat & need to fix the silver as a backup card.

    I have CardWriter 1.87 , GGeditor v2 & LMedit v3.6r13
Mastera II & SFF box running XP Pro SP2

I think its best i start from scratch.. blank my silver & start again

Can Anyone please help me with a tut etc & anything else i need to go from "stopped" to going great again...

I know there were stacks of posts "before" , but very little as its old school stuff now..

    ALL help very much appreciated.

edit : anyone with a copy of the Mastera II manual , I would appreciate a copy if possible..

What code is on the silver card ?

Can you read the cards with lave Mutiedit ? If so , all you need to do is read the working gold card with it and save the file. Then put the silver card in and load the file with the gold cards details on it.

Make sure you change the settings when you switch between gold card and silver card. Its been a long long time since I did any of the above and I am going from memory , but it shouldnt be very hard.

Do you have any old PC or laptop with Windows 98 ? Its a lot easier when doing anything with programmers.

You could also try changing the settings on it to see if it will work and also try multiple cards to make sure that isnt the problem.

Or maybe try a different version of multiedit if you have one.

Is it possible that the EEprom is borked / corrupt & thats stopping the card from doing anything ???

OK had some playtime with Cardwriter & after it supposedly done its bit.

I put the siver into my hummy & it just locks up...

more reading being done but all help appreciated & hope it helps a few others out there in the future again

Get hold of a couple of brand new goldies and have a play. They're cheaper and perfectly adequate for this job.

But first get LMedit reading that working goldie.

My Elvis reads my goldie fine and has even made a backup copy should card fail.
But when I try and program my silver clicking the correct settings in LMedit it wont program.
Is this a issue with XP ?
I would believe not as the goldie works fine.
I can program the silver with MultiProg with Ghost Silver v1.0.hex under the Pic Memory section without any hassle but cant put my Goldys details onto it.

Every time i try i get the "Data interrupted - Check card and connections"
Dont get that issue with backup of my Goldy

I have the same drama's with XP SP2 using a Jaycar mark II. I really think it is a case of finding a win98 box. I'm no expert, but I think XP handles it's serial ports entirely different than previous OS's.

Same old issue with comms and XP. Some chips work fine, others misbehave.
The easiest thing to try will be to install a virtual PC from microsoft (google it) and install 98 in it. Then try again.

the error message you are getting from lmedit is either the programmer is not in phoenix mode, the settings are for gold instead of silver in lmedit, or the card or programmer is stuffed....but you would know if you did that deliberately.

win98 will do nothing to improve it.
it's only icprog that does direct hardware writes when the windows api mode is deselected....so forget the win98 strategy.

your silver only needs lmedit setup properly to get it working.....

again, as I said before, and z agreeing, most likely your settings.
I dunno about your gear, but I have jumpers on my one to change between phoenix/smartmouse,3.5/6.8, battery on / off.Use a mixture of these , but be certain to mirror the same on the lmedit setup screen, as well as ensuring you have changed the parameter of GG/GS. I can't see it that one would work and not the other. You should also have the COMDLG32.ocx and MSCOMM32.ocx in your directory.

    Good luck

    Works Fine For Goldy..
