Try vundofix and smitfraudfix run them in safe mode. A good idea is to delete all your restore points first.

    Hope that helps

Download HijackThis from Download it to your desktop and NOT a temporary folder.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

Please don't Hijack a thread, if you have a problem start your own thread.

New thread started for the Hijacker here:

Next time will probably just delete the offending posts.

Just to be certain.... are they html type pop ups or plain text? Years ago Win XP used to by default leave the messenger service on and you will get pop ups that way, they are plain text and have something like messenger service title. XP SP2 changed the default to off.

The messenger service has nothing to do with Windows Messenger, it is meant to be used by a sys admin to send messages over a corp network.

Click Start then Run... and type in services.msc then press enter, scroll down to Messenger and see if it is disabled.

You could give Ultimate Troubleshooter a go. It will list all the running processes and give advice on if it is OK to have or not. Any that it does not know do a search in an online process library to check.

There are later versions about, but rapidshare appears to be down at the moment...

I'm guessing you are running IE... awful piece of cr@p.

If you run Firefox, it stops all pop-ups, and gives you the option to open them if you need to.

Already built in - no extra software required.

Ideas doesn't have an apostrophe :P
