Hi,
New owner with a soft modded xbox1 bought off of here.
Please advise a good site to read up on how to burn copies of my original games, for backup and playing in this box
Thank you...

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Thank you cwispy...appreciated.
No I'm sure it will be fine, I just know how volatile a softmodded box can be if you don't know how to use it or treat it. All softmodded errors can be fixed by installing a chip, thats why I recommend installing one in the first place rather than ever getting a softmod.
Having been a moderator and team member(and even writing the 2.7 version) of the famous SlaYers Xbox Autoinstaller, I've had my fair share of encounters with ppl all around the world with messed up xbox due to poorly setup softmods.
Cheers
Mick
Just to back Mick up, one of the most common problems I see and end up chipping are soft mods. At least with a chip u can ALWAYS recover with a slayers disk, even with a HD failure
Xbox1 is a verrrry reliable unit if done correctly.
Thanks fellas....next Q
Can this evox thingo let you play dvd music video's? Doesn't wanna play mine.
I have looked around a lot of the xbox sites, but can't seem to find anything difinitive that tutors a dumbo like me, on what the evox can let you do once it is loaded. Is there somewhere I should look that you may recommend? Also, is there any way a vga lcd monitor, without av inputs ( only audio and hdmi) can be used with an xbox, or anything else for that matter?

You'll need xbmc (xbox media centre) to play videos and music, you can use it as a dashboard too so you dont need to load it up from evox. Have a look for it it's probably already on the xbox. Also theres a program called dvdx which allows just dvd playback, but xbmc is more versatile it plays pretty much any video / audio file around except for highdef ones.
Also when burning discs for the xbox, burn at a slow speed I usually burn at 4 or 6x. Also make sure you finialise the disc so it's not left open to other burning sessions.
As for the vga it can be done, but doesnt look easy.
There were vga boxes you could buy alittle while ago, you'll need to research them because some brands are not so good Ive read.
Just get mick to put a real modchip into it.
I have had many years of modded xbox fun. They are a great little gizmo and can do some cool things when they are set up right.
Also get a larger hard drive put in it while your at it. Then all you need to do is plunk in a game disc, rip it to the hard drive and take it back to the video shop when your finished.
I use my xbox for networked divx movies, tv downloads, streaming, etc...
They are pretty damn good machines for the price.
Does this allow my xbox to connect to the hdmi input on my ASUS lcd monitor, and it will carry the audio and video?
That cable is a component cable with optical audio output. It is not hdmi.

bugger....
T'was trying to work out how to attach the xbox to either a vga monitor, or my ASUS lcd pc monitor which only has vga or hdmi input. Seems I can't unless you pay big $ for a converter?
Thanks again...

There are instructions out there on adding a VGA output to the Xbox. I haven't done it yet but plan to soon.
Also, instructions on making an adaptor cable here:
Thanks Gruso, I had read that one. But as I have no electonics skills, and have 2 left hands in that dept, it is a no go.'Tis amazing that an off the shelf add on like this was never manufactured...must be zillions of xbox users who would use a vga monitor if they could.
as indicated in the tute, this only works on v1.0 xbox
I'd be more inclined to go for something like this
OR
Not too 'spensive at all! That second one looks the business for monitor sharing.
Thanks fellas...I have requested a shipping cost from both sellers...thanks again
I've been using the to display 480p and 720p on my 22" Asus vw222u LCD monitor. Works great and the picture is fantastic.
Had to switch the Xbox to NTSC and then enable 480p and 720p in the Microsoft dash but all works well now.
