    Default Sony Dvp Ns530

    Hey Guys

I have a problem with the above mentioned dvd.

It wont read disks, copied or original. It tries but says 'cannot read' on the lcd.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?
Is it worth fixing or throwing?

    Cheers

Is the disc spinning up? Sounds like a spindle motor failure. i had the same symptons on my Pioneer DV696, it kept saying either no disc or cannot read disc, and when I opened the lid I could see that the disc wouldnt spin when loaded. My spindle motor had failed, it wasnt that difficult to replace the spindle motor, I got a motor from a cheapie dvd player with a blown power supply

    Hi
you can try the CD/VCD/DVD disks one by one, if none of the desks can read, the problem will be on the laser. any crack on the lens? Clean the metal and the object glass to try.

or the spindle motor. u should be able to hear it spin up when u close the tray, if it spins up, then think about a weak laser or dirty laser lens
