Good luck if it "really" gets fixed for $100. The fixes most of these people are using are "NOT" fixes. You should read the post in this same forum about the rrod and sending them back by lodging the request online.
Someone is offering me an RROD'd xbox360 for just a smidge over $100. Seems like a good deal, however I cant send it back to microsoft as the warranty seal has been removed.
Is there any way to get this fixed without MS, or if the console hasn't been modded - is there any chance MS will fix it under warranty?

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

just send it to ms.... chances are she'll be right --> find the threads cwispy said you'll see that most of em without the sticker tend to get fixed.
good luck
Seems like it might not be such a good deal then, thanks guys
i believe he meant it will cost him $100 to buy an Xbox 360 suffering RROD.. which is not too bad considering it can be fixed (depending on error code ofcourse).
Last night i received the Xecuter RROD repair kit which consists of 2 torx screw drivers which i didn't need and the 4 square thermal pads.
I opened up the Xbox and removed the motherboard.. placing the pads on the 4 chips beside the x-clamp
Screwed mainboard etc back in the chassis and powered the Xbox up. It did RROD again, however i believe it could have been due to the thermal pads not being molded yet onto the chip therefore not conducting the heat properly.
I let it run for 15mins with the good ol towel trick so it heats up quicker and then let it cool for 10mins..
While i was there playing games for 1hr.. it seemed fine.. even after turning on and off multiple times.
I did previously do the towel trick on the same unit but it never seemed to work
I will find out this arvo if the unit is still working fine.
yer ya right sleek... answered that one before the morn coffee...
and yes, it sounds like a good deal nps... buy it then send it back to ms! on the off chance they wont fix it, do it ya self (it really is easy, although can be time consuming) --> they will do a better job, but 100 clams for a 360 sounds great!
yeh.
if not, the power brick, dvd drive and hdd are worth more than $100.
Yep Sleek would be right. Serves me right for not reading it properly...

Warranty stickers arent hard to come by...I think M$ knows that...maybe that's why they use a differnt type now(after warranty repair).
I sent mine in with sticker broken....i dont think they have time to worry about it with all the RROD's boxs coming in.....its a friggin production line..lol
btw, the drive is only good if you have the key

If it where me, I would get the serial number and call MS and check if I can do a warranty on it. If all is fine I would "lend/borrow/steal/extort/squeeze/thieve/wrench" a warranty sticker of another xbox and send it in applied to the PROD.
