    Default xvid ??

    hi,

i recently downloaded two movie files from limewire. they were both approx 700MB but when i try to play them they only go for 3.20min and put up some notice saying invalid file format, then advises me to visit some website to get the right player. I have all the current codecs and players but nothing plays either movie ??

    ANy ideas

    Cheers

sorry, i should add by saying neither file actually plays any of the movie, rather it just puts up the error sign and plays the sign for 3.20min ??

Sounds like a fake file to get you to buy their player that is probably full of ad ware and trojans, especially if it displays an error notice that isn't related to your current player. Better do a virus and adware scan too or

Probably best not to use limewire.

You could try playing it in VLC it doesn't use your PC's codecs and plays most things. If you still get an error then they are fake.

Hi Pookie try using torrents instead of lime wire. Some of the torrent servers like mininova allow comments about the download to be left from other users, so you know before hand if the audio and visual are good quality or not as well as if it is a fake file or a download that needs passwords or contains viruses.
Like ssrattus says try VLC media player if in doubt its pretty good.

Pookie, don't even think about going to the site and downloading their player.
Its the Corey Worthington of software. It invites all sorts of crud in, trashes the place and even when its gone, there are nasty reminders thrown in your face every now and then.
    Comfortably numb...
And NO, Google is NOT my friend...
