Rewire coil, has happened several times to me?
Time has come to get the pool clean but the pump is struggling to start, its a davey power ace that i replaced the bearings in earlier this and was running fine up till swimming weather closed.
Motor is not seized and will start after a few on/offs but then wont come back on with the timer and then must overheat or overload and then cut out completely. Now it has a plastic cover on top of the motor that i assume encloses some electrickery that is causing the starting problem ?

There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"
if it starts sometimes and others it hums its more than likley the capacitor
most are capaciter start, maybe a coroded or broken connection
get someone to look at it befor you burnout the windings
Similar issue with our house pump ( we are on tank water), in that the pump would work fine if we flicked the power point on/off a few times. Ended up taking it to the pump shop and they fitted a new capacitor, and all has been good since. Take it to a plumbers supplies, or irrigation repairers rather than to a pool shop. My betting is a pool supplier will just try to sell you a new pump. My new capacitor was tested, refitted, again tested, and I paid $30.00 ( cash speaks) and all is good.
Right, i'll just remove it and get a newy then.
