Sure,
I've even used these with one on each end of 300 ohm ribbon when i needed a temporary run that was just a bit longer than the coax I had on hand..
these are the little baluns used to hook up the ladder/ribbon aerial cable to a coax input tele (i think)
on my stereo i have the typical T wire antenna (for need of a better name!), can i use the 75/300 balun in reverse to get fm reception for my stereo from the roof aerial? the roof aerial runs into quad shield coax

Comfortably numb...
And NO, Google is NOT my friend...
yes FM is transmitted upon the same frequencies as TV stations, thus your antenna will pick them up. AM is left out in the cold and is only ever good through a car radio in my experience.

Hi Thorny;
The T wire you are talking about is often a Folded Dipole antenna it has a centre impedance of about 300 Ohms (same impedance as ribbon cable) so if you want to connect it to 75-Ohm RG 6 Quad sheild coax you have the right tool the little baluns are ideal for the task. I think Ramrod was trying to confuse you with the F Connector comment he sounds like a Pay TV installer :-)
You could use the one in there in reverse or you could buy
if you have a wall plate you can even get one with a fm bleed off.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?
