I had the added bonus of watching the space station go right past them on Friday morning around 545, pulled off the road and waited for a few minutes, well worth it.
    Great pic Learjet

I'll set my alarm clock for the year 1,502,011 just to make sure I don't miss it.

The star, known as Gliese 710, could disrupt planetary orbits and send a shower of comets and asteroids towards the inner planets when it passes in 1.5 million years time.

    Question

Does anyone know what the planetary alignment means or symbolizes?

It's just an alignment. The inner planets rotate around the Sun faster than the outside planets. At some point they will all line up. It's like every planet has a slightly different gear ratio.

A simple analogy is the minute hand and hour hand of an analogue clock. The minute hand represents the inner planets moving rapidly around the face and the hour hand the outer planets. Once every hour and 5 minutes they cross or line up with each other.

I'm sure the astrology nuts are also having a field day casting horoscopes.
