5.4 standard Austar in Ultraplus 980

Afternoon all..

As some may have already seen, I have joined the other members here in acquiring one of these receivers to enhance my subscription, via the Austech B & S section.

Last night I downloaded any plugins, etc from this forum section, and have them all sitting in one file. This was done in preparation, as the receiver probably won't arrive until Thursday or Friday for me to use.

The receiver will arrive to me reset to factory defaults, protecting the previous owner.

Can you please advise me which are the appropriate plugins etc to simply allow it to play the card in the box?

I am advised it will be unable to cs as the version card I have is unavailable to do so, hence, it will simply be a second receiver and pvr to us.

I would also like to use it from time to time on different Irdeto services available on D1 and D2, on top of those I need on C1/D3.

Any assistances on the most likely stable software would be greatly appreciated.

I think you will find it will still have the plugins loaded as they still remain after a factory reset.
The plugin to allow your card to be used is the MCAS plugin. Make sure this is set to auto and that it's started.

It's not the latest but I found that combination to be very stable.

Plugin MCAS set to auto
All other MCAS set to manual


Austar card in, displaying pictures, however a repeated message keeps appearing "Smartcard Initializing Irdeto"


Woops...
Things gone worse...
Took card back to original unit...all working ok
Put it back in Ultra...zippo...nothing
Checked in the CAS setting, and it now does not even acknowledge a card in the slot.


Do I possibly need to try the MCAS plugin that I eluded to at the start of this thread?


What is my next move please?

Ok I'll be serious now. You may as well download the latest firmware and MCAS here


In the plugins menu, remove all plugins.
Uprade the firmware by copying onto a USB stick and plugging into receiver
when complete do a return to factory defaults
then copy the only the plugin folder to the USB stick, pluging into receiver and when detected right arrow until plugin appears and download.

When it reboots setup the receiver and scan in channels. Go to the plugin menu and ensure MCAS is set to auto and started. Exit out and then select a channel, insert card and you should have pics!

Done that.
Back to where I was before...still getting the continued message, and a glitch as it does it ( like a drop out) but the dish is spot on.

CAS menu still shows up as no card.

Any other clues?

Just checked it with my original 1.2 aurora card, and that works perfectly..also shows no card in slot.

No probs bearing with you.....as long as you're not grizzly bearing!!

You can't go by the CAS menu as that's the firmwares CAS menu where you are using the MCAS in the plugin menu. If you highlight the MCAS and hit OK on the remote then you will see the card details.
The M in MCAS stands for Multi as it supports all common access systems like Irdeto, NDS, Viaccess, Nagra etc etc

As for the Austar card has pics come up?

Yes Austar pics come up, but as explained above... a repeated message keeps appearing "Smart Card Initializing Irdeto"...it tends to glitch at the same time.

I've seen that message. Should pop up very infreqently but I thought that was fixed. Can you try the older MCAS from the UltraPlus 1.08.52 firmware thread?

Make sure you format the user data first before loading the older plugin. Otherwise there are newer ones.

Looks like I will need to run through different versions, unless another user has ideas.

I just removed the working Aurora card, and reinserted the Austar card, and again back to the loop ""Smart Card Initializing Irdeto" and NO PICTURES AT ALL. Put the Austar card back in the prov box, wait for pics in it, return it to the Ultra, and pics with repeated message and glitching.

grrrr.

Leroy's THE MAN..

Used the 108.94 firmware and the MCAS from the 1.08.52 thread and all works ok on the 5 minute test I got through.

She who must be obeyed has pinched the card back from me, so will play again later.
