    Default VuDuo: Mgcamd was killing my internet...be aware

    Hi, I posted this on ViX forum as I use the image, but not everyone is reading their forum so I tought it might be usefull for some:

    "for some time I was loosing my internet connection so I couldn't get anywhere but then all was working again. I tought my modem (bridged router) was on it's way out. However on the third occasion I had more closer look and noticed that my connection is alive but outgoing trafic is maxed. Using Wireshark I've found that the flood is comming from my VuDuo box... On packet inspection I've found it has Mgcamd in it. Well, I stopped the softcam and the internet start working perfectly. Right, time to see what is in the config file which I think I got from the net some time ago.

    At the L entry (log options) I had some 176.x.x.x /var/etc at option 3 or 4 (don't remember now) and this address was in the config file already, not put by me. I disabled the loging and all is working fine. I don't know if the flooding was because the cam tried to write logs to some unknown location or in fact there is a problem with mgcamd logging.

    Anyway, it is worth to check what you got in your config file... "

    Apparently, this L setting is default mgcamd setting so yes, better check!

    Cheers

    Hmm, I tought that not having some lines will resault in loading defaults. As the L line default is problematic that might be not good solution. Might be wrong thou.

    CWS = 10.1.1.3 20000 lounge lounge 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    this is all you need for it to run sweet in your local network , nothing else . the only things that really change are the ip and password details if you want to do it remotely

    My vu duo stays connected to the server when it is idle and does disconnect when it becomes idle. I have other boxes connected and they disconnect when they are idle, they connect using newcamd and my vu duo uses mgcamd.

    I kill the login from the server and it reconnects as idle. All connect to the same server with the same config except the vu duo uses mgcamd. Any ideas?

    Bit old but,

    The L entry mentioned by the Op is in the mg_cfg file, not the newcamd.list file (both in Keys folder).

    I have this flooding/disconnect happening also, well spotted mborkp.
    Its Hell in the Tropics
