Looks bloody fast, too fast for my liking for a bicycle.

I noticed someone selling 20 engine kits for 2.6K, thats $130 a kit.

Buy a bike for X $, add engine, enjoy profits.

I think your onto something Sanity.

I reckon these might be better 4stroke reliability and zip start too

Yes, easy money for anyone handy with some spanners. Go around the neighbourhood offering $20 for every old Kmart Huffy Mountain bike and whack a motor on them

Carjackma, 4 stroke would obviously be quieter but looking at those specs it only does 30-35 km/h. I reckon it would struggle with someone my size where the 2 stroke doesnt. You can apparently add zip start to the 2 strokes, but there isnt really any point because of the way they are geared as in you have to have some speed up by peddling before you take off or you burn the clutch.

The 4 stroke would probably be stronger as it has more torque.
Don't let the 30-35 km/h speed limit fool you as it is probably got a limiter on it.
We used to have these on 4 stroke Honda mopeds back home too to limit them to 40 km/h and they were the easiest things to circumvent.
All they had was a couple of centrifugal weights in the flywheel which would limit the revs. Wouldn't be surprised if this engine had something similar.

Possibly weirdo, though that 4 stroke is much smaller in size as well (49cc V's 66cc on my 2 stroke). I didnt really expect mine to keep going up hills with 115kgs on its back, but 2 strokes rev a lot harder.

But it all depends on what you want it to do. As crazy as those shift kits are, they would be good for a standing start instead of peddling.

But can you imagine getting too cocky and whizzing through 18 gears only to have the shimano gears and derailer jam up at 90 km/h ?

Id say the gearing selected on the rear sprocket will effect its ability to accelerate, top speed and therefor ability to pull weight.

There is on one side, no ability to pull up hills and accelerate briskly but with a great top speed on a flat section VS great pull, brisk acceleration but with a lower top speed depending on the rear gearing used.

It will be interesting to see the police view on the bikes once gearing is introduced, bet you they try to lower the capacity on them and treat them as pocket bikes once they become popular (being the spoilers of fun).

2 strokes actually have a lower rpm rating than 4 strokes, they just sound like they are singing their guts out as they have double the power strokes per rev, back in the days i had a 2stroke suzi 350r red lined at about 7200, the honda twin was red at 9200, but he would have to sniff my oil

Yes 2 strokes are double the power cycles per RPM.

Two-stroke engines have the potential for about twice the power in the same size because there are twice as many power strokes per revolution.

Lets also remember a 2 stroke engine is lighter and simpler in design.

But on the other hand 4 stroke engines last longer due to a dedicated oiling system and produce less pollution (not that Sanity would give a rats about it )

Its not hard to clock the k's up, I just did a 20 km round trip involving a lot of extreme hills that required a fair bit of peddling to assist it.

I bet my missus the other day when she was going to the doctors that I could beat her there, me on bike v's her in car. I beat her by about 3 seconds

Just take another handfull of pain killers, and a swig or 2 of strong alcohol should also assist in taking the pain away.

@Urban, tell you what, buying 20 engines and slapping them into a bulk buy of 20 Ebay.China/Target priced bikes could be a really good money maker.

These things are fast and cheaper to run than a car, most of my trip A/H are local. to the shops etc, one of these bikes would be perfect.

Even would be great for taking my Husky for a run, just sit on the bike and enjoy the ride.

no time and the possibility of wankers falling off and trying to sue me for damages.

Any ideas on whats the best kit to buy off ebay?

No idea at this point, its a area that im green in, in terms of what engines and kits are best.

I feel like sending the seller a message asking if he can do a deal or 2 setups to test the water, for $260 plus 2 new bikes its worth a gamble, if it works then buy 10 setup kits, if they dont sell, ive got cheap run around transport.

Nah mate, cant beat the raw noise and smell of a smoking internal combustion engine.

Besides electric bikes are more dangerous, people on bike paths cant hear them coming.

Heaven forbid, you may be labeled "gay" and bashed with a electric bike. LOL (up in my area anyway )

Too pissy in the power department Weirdo, 500-1000 watts doesnt compare to 2500. The noise is half the fun

tell me about it, China is full of them, the 48v and 60v ones are pretty quick and these silent assassins come out of nowhere on the things and scare the crap out of you at times, the footpaths are just as dangerous as the roads there

Not too sure about that, the bottom link with the 500W motor quotes > 11~34T IS BEST 5-10 speeds rear cog set upto 50kph.
So you would think the 1000W would be even better.
Yeah I know they're chinese Watts

Its a true point with these things.....at least people hear them and look, on a normal treadly they just try and run me over.

It is quieter with a few k's on it though than it was new
