Default Microsoft Admits Firmware Update Could Brick Your Xbox 360

"Microsoft has announced that the latest Xbox 360 firmware update will be mandatory, no problem there for most gamers but it seems a select few will basically be left with a rather expensive desk ornament after they update their Xbox 360."

Has anyone found a list of the consoles that are affected or what's so unique about these gold mines?

From what i've read its pretty much just those cosnoles with dvd drives that cant be flashed with the new XGD3 ? firmware that once updated will trigger a failed update message back thru XBL, i tried updating an old xenon but all i got was an E66 error message.
