    Default Pas 8 tuning help

Can someone point me in the direction of some online info on finding the Pas8 satelite? I just cancelled my Foxtel subscription and bought a Select TV starter pack and I want to hook up my old Humax to look at Pas8 for Select TV. I don't want to have to pay for a technician to come out and point the dish the right way because funds are tight at the moment. I have set up dishes before, just need some directions and I should be all good.
    Thanks in advance.

Look At Lyngsat and also download Gorbtrack and look at some of Farmsky's previous excellent posts both here and Vetrun on the Clarke-Belt showing the positions of the various satellites we can receive in Australia.
Pas 8 or intelsat 8 as it is also known is positioned at 166 degrees and if you have the dish currently looking at C1 Stand behind it and move it 10 degrees to the right (to East) and tilt the dish forward and you should find it LOL

Mark the dish, pole LNB everything, where it is now. IS8 is not far off C1. Just moved dish south about 1cm (referring to pole/mount) and pull dish slightly down.

Make sure your tuned into a freq on Pas8. Look at the selecttv freq. They are very strong. Just simply poke around and get the misses to watch the telly. It's a lot like letting her read a street directory when your driving!!

There are heaps of sites explaining stuff, It's all correct. Just try. BUT DONT FORGET TO MARK WHERE YOU ARE NOW. Reference point

Looking down from the top of the pole...spin the dish 10 degrees clockwise.
then ever so slightly down a bit.

signal strength is heaps less than C1.

If your skew was correct on C1, then you will need to twist the LNB about 30 Deg. anti-clockwise looking into the dish.
At the moment all TPs are horizontal on Pas 8, so you need to adjust for max H signal.
If you do not do this and do a blind scan, you will pick up the TPs as both H & V, but at reduced signal level.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

Look at what angle your dish says,Just go 4 deg lower than what it is.
Then while having a select tv transponder loaded in the box with the CORRECT lnb entered, slowly move the dish towards the East (no more than 1cm rotation) until you get a signal lock.Make sure you mark where you began as a ref point. When a lock is obtained then slowly rotate the lnb to increase the signal.

Unfortunately some of this re-pointing info may be right and most of it wrong.

It all depends where you live as to the difference in az and el to re-locate from C1 to IS8.

... and don't forget to mark where u are on C1... once again

Use one of the many simple and work out the difference for your location between the two birds.

I haven`t tried but it looks good. I have just finish moving my dish from C1 to Pas8. Took a whole of 5 minutes. All I can say, I turned the dish a little to the right and down a little. Thats from standing behind it.

Now I have pics again and the misses is wraped.

Have you tried adjusting the Skew?
    Believe me, it is different.
