Pt Lincoln, Whyalla and possibly Broken Hill dont have the full suite of the digital 'channels' 5 months after 'Switch Off', some parts of Victoria according the the Digital Ready site are still being done (Switch Off was 5th of May) and Regional Qld starts tomorrow, 1 June.
If the changeover from Analog had only been decided 12 months ago without consultation I could understand there would be possible delays but this must have been known in the industry for several years before so you would think it would have been implemented more smoothly.

I know croady is referring to VAST but it seems that the terrestial implementation is fareing no better and it is all part of the so called Grand Scheme because without one (Terrestial) you cannot go VAST !!!

Remaining 6 channels for Western VAST will be online at the same time Bunbury/Kalgoorlie terrestrial is switched on/upgraded, which is by July 30.

As UEC says when you enquire about it, the PVR function is testing and will be released very soon. As for another brand PVR....

...look at what manufacturers have to pay, just for firmware releases! I wouldn't expect new players for a while yet. Having said that, I think Strong and Hills have made mention of a box, but I'm not really sure where that's at.

'We're not monopolising the system but we want a Zillion $$$ for the rights to use our specifications'
With a market as small as ours and this kind of imposition you can see manufacturers lining up cant you !!!

    Frank,

Strong haven't released a VAST model yet.

Most other HD decoders are also DVB-S2 MPEG4 compliant.
Yes, VAST uses those formats, but the issue is the encryption which VAST uses, which no other box can decode, despite being able to actually tune the channels. EG: any DVB-S2 MPEG4 box can view the VAST tuning channel, as it's not encrypted.
