    Default Oppo Players

    Hi I have an Oppo DV-980H but it is now showing its age and I wish to upgrade to a Blue ray player. I am looking at the Oppo BDP-93 but would like to know if this unit is region free and if it is not region free how difficult is it to make it so. Can anyone help with this information please.

    Assume your Australian? So I dunno about importers in AUS

    The Oppo's come with DVD region free ( I think ) but not Blu Ray region free. The old model was region free modable by way of a custom firmware update, but think that's not possible with the new -93, for now at least.

    However, many unofficial sites will mod the player by way of a hardware mod and offer warranty as well.

    This player is next on my list. It punches WAY above its price bracket ( despite still being expensive ), and so persevering to get it region free will be worth the effort.
