Default New games on flashed 1.6?

    Hi all,

Not a big xbox user so thought i should ask before i do something stupid!

I have a flashed xbox 360 (1.6 i think) that i havent used for a while. I've started looking at some new games and have noticed that they all ask me to do an update.

Wondering what this means? is it possible ill brick the drive cos it is flashed?
is there a way of playing without installing hte update?

a recent example is the new MK. i got it, re patched it to a wave 3 and then tried to play it. After it automatically installed a new dashboard it said that it had to do a system update which worried me!! For now I can still load other games so no damage done but wondering what needs to be done to play?

Im not too keen on any changes to the xbox - ie id have to bring it to someone again to get it re-flashed, etc.

Easiest way is to get it updated.

If a game needs a certain dashboard version you must update to play that game.

You can convert waves down i.e. wave 4-->wave 3 (i think the programs called "wave patcher"

Stay away from the latest update available on xbox live though as this reflashing your DVD drive with stock FW.

just don't update to dashboard 2.0.13146 - as per urbans post as it will undo any flashing of your drive

up until now, the latest games haven't had the update, but its almost guaranteed games from here on in will have the update

oh wow.. thanks for the info.
not sure if this will affect me as yet considering I never go on Xbox live. But now im worried of getting the new update from a game!

Jason you mentioned Jtag.. i will read about this but im assuming this is anohter mod that isnt affected by any of this??
are there any actual mod chips (like old days) that dont get affectted by any of this cr@p.

    thanks guys

jtag is a whole other configuration
you can load games directly onto the hard drive - bypass all of the dvd drive limitation/checks
jtags need to have been modified before a certain dashboard release (I'm keeping this simple) and newer ones can't be "jtagged" anymore or even older ones with a new dashboard

few guys on here sell jtags though

Or making sure it has been patched to remove the update.

you can't "patch" any xbox 360 games like that to remove updates or it won't boot?

might be best to keep an eye on the xbox scene sites and wait until the new firmware is released - its not supposed to be far away
