Thanks I might have to look into a water block setup down the track I'll start with the basics first then progress if noise is a problem.

I used to be all for AMD, my PC before this one the AMD CPU died and killed the motherboard. AMD were a step ahead in terms of gaming a few years ago but now Intel have caught up.
My main PC is Intel and never looked back, stable and reliable 3 years and is rarely turned off.
Bought a zbox with an Intel Atom CPU and it runs as cool with minimal fans, I dont believe there is a CPU fan over the CPU due to it's small size.
You will tend to get what you pay for.

The reason why i've gone away from a prebuilt is I need a mainboard with plenty of pci and pcie slots and normally prebuilts come with only basic mainboards.
I've got to fit in
2 pci sat cards
1 pci wifi card
1 pcie sat card with a spare slot for maybe a second dvbt pcie.
1 pcie graphics card
Ive only found a few cheaper mainboards that will handle all that (talking sub $150).

Most generic boards have two PCIE and 2 PCI slots
and you can replace the wifi with a USB Wifi dongle for $10- $20.
I have seen complete i5's with 1TB and 4Gb for less than $500.
I will post the MB slot configuration when I get mine, hopefully on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I would buy an intel i5 based system.
i5 2500K ~$220
Asus/ASRock/Gigabyte/MSI P67 board $100-180 (I don't know if any of these cover your PCI needs)
8GB GSkill ram ~$95
+/- reusable parts from old system
= A pretty powerful system, with some considerable room for overclocking (depending on mobo)
Otherwise if you want to go uber cheap, (I don't know what your current system is) just pick-up a second hand 775 based system.
An overclocked E8500 ($90) or quadcore still has plenty of punch
Good overclocking mobos can be had for only $50!
lol at the posers buying pre-built computers

Just another note. If you can hang out a few more months to see what AMD does with there new line of FX processors you just never know... There last line of FX did make intel look pretty small in the scheme of things
It arrived today. It is genuine 2gen I7, and all is good. There is no way I can build it from scratch for that price.
If you are upgrading an existing system or salvaging parts, that's a different story.
However you wouldn't be happy. It has 3x PCIE and no PCI. ASRock H61M-S, probably the cheapest MB around.
