Default Suggestion(s) for a reasonably priced rrod fix!!!!!

My son's xbox ( xenon ) displayed dreaded rrod (3) and orange light on the psu. I can't check if it is the psu as I don't have another psu.

I looked around and have been quoted minimum $80 for repairs. Can anyone suggest a more reasonably priced repairer in Sydney or can any fellow member try the repair for a fee. If I can't get it fixed reasonably then I might look to buy a jasper.

I'd check with another psu first as i would have thought that the psu would still have agreen light even with rrod ? But a faulty psu wouldnt give a 3rrod error i dont think. I could reflow it for you but the postage to vic each way would make it uneconomical .

Default Thank you for your kind suggestions!!!!

Why did you have to be in VIC OR why did I move to NSW ( my wife is from Beaufort, VIC )

I will keep looking for another psu to test this xbox with. I have now started looking for a Jasper to buy...

    Default Thanks heaps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Loanrangiel/Ljay,

Thanks heaps guys for your advise, suggestions and offers to help/test. I found out there is nothing wrong with the psu - it is fine.

I read quite a bit and trolled www for rrod. I tested/found out that my rrod problem was 0102. RROD is sorted atm but it might come back.

Ljay, your signature got me curious. Please don't mind if I send you a pm or two?
    ( regarding some modification(s) quotes etc )

    Cheers
