sure you can find the sat with that. Just use a SD TP from the foxtel bouquet to tune the dish.

today my boss plopped into my lap a brand new First Strike, Sat Finder (FS1)
and asked me 'will this work for vsat?'
he told me it was meant for TElevision but the Freq Range on it is 950MHZ - 2150MHZ.
that sounds like frequencies far below the current C band range for television.
it seems that this thing won't even do digital tv sat finding.
so what am I missing?

I think you may be getting confused between the actual satellite transponder frequencies and the output frequencies from the LNB, which down-converts the transponder frequencies into the range the satfinder will read... and all decoder boxes for that matter too.
So yes, the satfinder will work.
will it work for VSAT's and internet satellite as well?
I am confused? I thought the transponder freq was the only freq I care about.
okay so how do I figure out how to use this to tune for VSAT dishes or others.
G'Day Cobber,
You need to know the Local Oscillator Frequency of the LNB on the dish.
This converts the TP frequencies down to the input range of the finder or Satellite Decoder. From GHz to MHz.
You use the menu to input the LNB frequency.
This chart does not list all LNBs, but should give you the general idea.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".
