there is a court case coming up, if this bloke get convicted he will get at least 7 years, he bashed a baby.
i want to record the evidence from the trial.

You can't take recording devices into a courtroom.
Why not wait until the case is over and apply to see the transcripts?
You can't legally drive drunk or over the speed limit, just as you can't legally take a recording device into a courtroom.
There are penalties for getting caught for any of the above offences.
If a person is discovered with a recording device during a hearing, it may compromise that hearing and even affect the outcome.

I'vedoneheard of it being done before - using an Iphone in the pocket.
The trick is to have the mic pointing out when inside the pocket (iphone on silent, of course)
Later, back at base, you need to amp the sound level right back up to hear the words.

You could wear a "spy watch" that not only records audio but also makes a video of the evidence.
