This is also my understanding and depending on the court, you may be subjected to a screening/search procedure.

You can't take recording devices into a courtroom.
Why not wait until the case is over and apply to see the transcripts?

You can't legally drive drunk or over the speed limit, just as you can't legally take a recording device into a courtroom.

There are penalties for getting caught for any of the above offences.

If a person is discovered with a recording device during a hearing, it may compromise that hearing and even affect the outcome.

at 75 years of age i am well aware of the legalities.

there will be no recording device in the court room, the only thing that will be there is a mike that transmits to the recorder outside.

one time there was someone selling this stuff on this forum, spy type shit.

Well, good luck convincing the authorities that a radio mic isn't considered part of a recording device.

I've done heard of it being done before - using an Iphone in the pocket.

The trick is to have the mic pointing out when inside the pocket (iphone on silent, of course)

Later, back at base, you need to amp the sound level right back up to hear the words.

Practice in a larger room first so you know the idea

You could wear a "spy watch" that not only records audio but also makes a video of the evidence.
Some are in HD video resolution. Ebay and Hong Kong is your friend.

This last one shouldn't attract too much attention, it's a mini DV camera to mount on a remote control helicoptor, just try not to hit the judge with it:
Go to Google Maps and click “Get Directions.” Get directions leading from China to Taiwan, and look at instruction #48.
