Hi all.
I've asked this around a few other forums, but still can't get a straight answer.
Anyway. I currently have a AM2 4800+ @2.7Ghz stock cooling. I get temps ranging from:
Air Con On 21c idle - 48c Load (Prime95 test for 2 hours.)
Air Con Off 24c idle - 58c Load (Prime95 test for 2 hours.)
Now I was thinking about upgrading to a 6400+.
Would it be worth it, or should I just get a good after market cooler and continue to overclock a little bit further.
All I did was increase the FSB to 216Mhz. no other type of adjustment. its also the 65nm 4800+
System Spec:
AM2 4800+ @ 2.7Ghz
Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3
2GB KINGSTON DDR2 667Mhz
Palit 8800GT OC a little.

From the Gigabyte Page:
Note: If you install AMD AM2+ CPU on AM2 motherbord, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information.
The Phenom is a AM2+ CPU, so it runs slower.
I just got some spare money at the moment, and would like to upgrade now so I don't have to in the future when I don't have the cash..
I'm actually on a carers pension as my wife is ill, so we don't have a lot of spare cash. And the 6400+ is only $180 at the moment. But a good cooler is $70 (Zalman) and i could get an extra 2GB ram..
Oh and i wont run Vista..blaaaa
