The Total Lunar Eclipse on June 15/June 16th, 2011 will be visible in its entirety from the eastern half of Africa, the Middle East, central Asia and western Australia. Observers throughout Europe will miss the early stages of the eclipse because they occur before moonrise, however they will see totality. North America misses out entirely this time around, and the eclipse is not visible at all for them.
For Australians and New Zealanders, the eclipse will be in progress during Moon set (before sunrise on the 16th June 2011). Generally, the further West you are, the more of the eclipse you'll see. West Australians will see the entire event, while those in the Eastern States and New Zealand will see all of totality, but will miss the final partial stages of the eclipse as the moon will set before it is complete.
This eclipse is quite a long one, with totality lasting 100 minutes.
One for the early birds, I'm going to have a look.

On further investigation it looks like we will see a second lunar eclipse on 10th December.

Early thursday morning... and it's placed nicely for a photo opportunity. I'll have to try for it.

The way the weather is currently and forecast, anyone between Wollongong and Brisbane will be lucky to see the sky let alone an eclipse.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
Around 0430 tomorrow here in Perth so will be up to check it out.
Hopefully the cloud cover doesn't ruin it!

I actually thought it was last night but caught a bit of the news apparently it will be early tomorrow morning eastern time?
Democracy & Ignorance = A Winning Combination
It sort of starts at 5am eastern then continues past 7am but pretty much anyone in the east of australia wont see it after 7am it will be too light and very low on the horizon I believe.

It looks good, woke up a little too late to see the start. Worked out my camera isn't very good for the job.

Had a good view of it here in Mackay. From my ancient Fuji S5600. Click thumbs for bigger.

Hi Learjet, good shots, I gave up when the fog started coming in typical weather for this time of year.
