get some 4300k hid conversions.....
4300k are the best, a brilliant white light.
8000k are too blue, an instant cop magnet and don't put out as much light as 4300k.
the higher the colour temperature, the less light output. 4300k is the most like daylight and the best for your eyes.
will pm you my suppliers email.
i brought a set from here
5k they look awesome
I have a set of 8000k H4 HI\LO (blue light) Next time I will be going the 6000k (white light)
has any one got the 50w version if so how much difference is there in light output
i have 55w hi/lo beams and 55w in the spotties (all 4300k), lots of light. Much better than 35w versions.
Yep all sounds good, but why do you want to change what the manufacturer recomends and are they legal?
Oh and if you can understand all that your a legend.
I recon that any copper thats looked at that document has thought any car without the factory globes fitted is defective.
Guys I don't want to hijack Makedonija's or anyone else's thread but there haven't been many on headlights. My fairlane's headlights are "frosted" over, I believe caused by incorrect globes. I passed out at the replacement price of the headlight units, could you tell me if/what better globes could put out more light without the headlight units melting?!
Couldn't resist butting in when I read the replies by some bulb experts
Thanks.
What model Fairlane, ive seen plenty of late 80's early 90's light assemblys going really cheap second hand at wreckers, and i think they can be opened by clips to take a look inside and clean (like the ford falcons).
You sure water hasnt got inside past the rubber lens seal and they need a clean?
Sometimes the reflector mirror finish can discolor also.
You can buy the glass or lens seperatly if needed.
Id just get a s/h one from the wreckers and save myself a $
The problem with just upgrading the globes is that the reflector and lens isn't made for the extra amount of light, so light goes where is shouldn't, at a higher level than regular globes.
ie the splillover when in low beam can dazzle drivers where a regular bulb doesn't.
they work fine with modern computer cut lenses, NOT in older cars......
Nothing pisses me off more than a vehicle coming the other way with incorrectly adjusted headlights. I have been running hid hi/lo beams for 12 months in my vehicles, and have not been pulled over once or been 'flashed' by a vehicle coming the other way.
I only use 4300k globes, pure white.
Thanks guys. I'm on the road at 2am (not in the fairlane nf95) and some headlights just want to make me drive off the bloody road. I was behind a van 4 weeks ago with a sign on the back saying headlights dim? and do you think I can remember the tradesman's name?
I will have a look at 2nd hand prices for the lights, it was about 4yrs when I first enquired about it but we have driven our other car at nights so no problem. But kids grow up, netball here, footy there, ballet here, bmx fn everywhere. We have 3 vehicles now, 2 kids, 4 grandparents, 20 mates...thanks for the replies guys.
I have heard that you can use a buffer and some cut and polish to get the "frosted" over headlights clean again If its on the out side
Anyone know how to fix the Ballast on HID light I have one that got water in it ?
I AGREE
especially if they are those so call FOG lights / driving lights.
city drivers with no clue, most don't even realise they are on & because they are just screwed into a plastic bumper frame they have no sense of directional aiming.
Really annoying that is when they are coming toward you
and the lights are aiming like one is going tokyo and the other is going london.
new laws in victoria have fixed all that as soon as they figure out what a great revenue raiser it is.
no fog light law in VIC as of this week. !!!
it is actually illegal in Vic to have more than 1 pair of lights operating on the front of the vehicle. Fog lamps are actually yellow, as the yellow light does not reflect back towards the vehicle.
