Default AGL - who is cheapest for power in Vic?

Notwithstanding the fact they're one of the most expensive electricity retailers on the market and they just made me redundant! Obviously for this reason alone I want to change but who has the cheapest rates?

    Cheers,

Noting your position, surely you are aware they all seem to want you to sign a contract for 1 to 2 years with penalties for opting out?
Makes it very awkward to find a cheaper supplier, when you are at their mercy.

Bah....big organisations like AGL don't care about the guys on the ground. They like to give the perception they do but all management have done is brought themselves to the attention of staff showing that they are dishonest especially after saying a few weeks ago there would be no forced redundancies!

Anyway I would still like to know who has the cheapest electricity tariffs for Victoria!! I know it's not AGL.

I'm with TRU energy and just got my bill last week, just checked it and I've tossed out the second page with the more details.

I get a 3% discount for paying on time and am in no contract. I asked about a contract when I signed up but they were not keen

I'll try and find an old bill to compare.

Well, none of them are cheap.
I'm with RED, the last electricity account I have was issued on the 12th of April 2011
I also have been issued with one of the new smart meters.
    It reads as follows;
    Previous reading: 4090
    Current Reading: 6060
    Usage kWh: 1970
    Peak Step 1 975 @ 20.200 = $196.95
    Peak Step 2 995 @ 22.000 = $$218.90
    Sub Total: $415.85
    Service to Property Charge = 89 Days @ 65.000 C/day = $57.85
    GST: = $47.37
    TOTAL ELECTRICITY CHARGES: = $521.07

I get a PAY on Time Discount of $47.37 Plus GST of $4.74 - Total Discount is $52.11

I take advantage of RED's 'Even Pay' Direct Debit system, I pay $45.00 per week ($90.00 per Fortnight) for the preceding 6 Fortnightly pay periods - So I had paid $522.00 in advance.

It works for me - but like I said - It ain't cheap.

That's the kind of thing that would be helpful.

@Seymour - Red Energy is Snowy Hydro and I remember a few years back they were quite competitive so I will be having a look at them, thanks.

I was getting a 20% employer discount but the tariffs are high!

I noted that one (click energy) in its advertising is for Victorian Customers only, why??

I just did that Goswitch site and I thought it quoted me more than I do actually pay.
I would like to see the actual rates per KWH for each company , do they have a 'Tier' system like XXXX cents per KWH to say 1500 KWH then XXX cents above that, also any other charges like Intergral do by charging XXX cent PER DAY for the priviledge of having electricty/meter reading etc.
Then we'll talk about any 'discounts' like On Time' payments, Direct Debit requirements and Contractual requirements if any.
Dont forget at the end of the day to add the GST.

This is a bill from Integral Energy, now Origin for the Quarter to Feb this year which no doubt are out of date or soon bloody will be with the new % rise in July.
I am not on any contract or plan, never been in the 46 years I have lived here.
    $0.189300 to 1745 Kwh then $0.209600 thereafter.
    $0.52000 Per Day supply Rate is 365 X $0.52000 = $189.80
My 'supply' rate is $30 odd $$$'s cheaper but my Unit cost is $0.00813 dearer based on Sanity's posted rates if I have done my maths right so Up the Ladder and Down the Snakes back.
I didnt check the 'Click Energy' rates only the Goswitch site.

A little off topic, but not really.

We are with that 3 letter company (starts with A) for gas and electricity. Received a gas bill about 4wks ago.
As we were stuffed around previously with electricity (long story short - received a bill in my name, but was for the neighbours meter, yes we even paid it too), we decided to double check the gas bill.

Meter number corresponded, but the current actual meter reading displayed units that were less than the previous units reading as stated on the bill.
Quite obviously, we never checked our previous bill properly and just paid it (our bad).

As you can imagine, I was not happy. Setup the dictaphone and make the call on speaker, advising them the call is being recorded for our customer account enquiry.
After 3 calls (all recorded) and 4wks later, we are now in credit and received an appologetic letter.

That old saying of once bitten, twice shy; well with them we are twice bitten, and now looking for alternative suppliers.

Neither efficiency or accuracy seem to be part of the 'Customer Service' nowadays.

Believe AGL own Power Direct. Think Energy Australia were the cheapest when my mother went thru Energy Watch to find a good deal.

Yes AGL do own Power Direct and also own 33% of the dirty polluting Hazelwood Power Station in the Latrobe Valley.
