Default Need advice on a FTA reciever

    Hi all

I am about to cancel my Austar contract seeing as though there is nothing good on, but seeing as though I have paid to have the dish and cabling installed I need a FTA decoder.

The reason I installed this system, is I dont get any DVB at all where I am (Alpine Victoria) now I would like to buy a HD FTA decoder to view TV.

Please recommend me a decoder, and links.

    Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the threads for VAST.

This is the new satellite delivered copy of the fta digital terrestrial.

There are rules that govern your availability to the signal, but info is in the threads for you to see.

The bonus is, it is the same satellite you are pointed at.

    Hi guys.

Thanks for the replies. I am basically looking for the ABC and SBS channels. We dont watch anything else.

I understand that all I would have to do it send the Austar box back, and buy a FTA decoder. I dont know anything about these machine, and would like some basic advice on what to buy.

VAST ...approx $280 for the receiver, and all the channels you need.

I agree with the suggestion to look at getting a VAST receiver but before you do, make sure you a definitely in a VAST area. This will enable you to receiver all the Freeview channels that people receive via terrestrial TV in capital cities.

Another option is to realign your dish to point at Optus D1 where all the ABC and SBS channels from all states/timezones are able to be received. You can check them out here

You can also receiver Channel 9, Go and Gem at the moment but these feeds are temporary.
Note you will need to purchase a HD satellite receiver to receive all channels.

The only Vast STB is a UEC DSD 4121 at the moment

plenty of sellers on ebay, e.g.

but most satellite equipment shops sell them

you will need to register to recieve channels,

ABC & SBS are available to any area in australia,

But the Commercial channels you must qualify.....(sounds like you do)

    checkout here

    & here

    Cheers
