Generic 7" Android tablet problem

I have a MID brand ( i think) android tablet that just wont boot anymore, it had this problem when we first got it but then started working for a while.
I googled and found some other firmware to try but it gets to where it updates the file system then freezes, repeatedly tried different firmware but still no good. Anyone have any ideas how i can possibly erase the os and start from scratch on one of these ?

do you know what model it is, there are a few different ways to load the new os
