    Default Printer ink.

I have a canon pixma MP600 printer which works great but the ink replacement cost is a bit obscene, i have used some aftermarket inks but dont like messing with the chips and not having them provide an ink level.
might be looking at a CIS system or i found some purpose made refillable cartridges on ebay that will make refilling easier. Looking for advice on what others use for their printers and how it works for them.

Am and have been using a Rihac system on last 3 printers
Am sure on Epson printers the chips come pre installed, on Canon have to remove chips and place on new cartridges, no major problems as the after sales service is fantastic and they walk you thru any problems
Save your self a lot of money as you will pay for the system on ink (nearly) purchases alone

Another option is a chip resetter...Takes seconds to do and will show ink levels. Been using them successfully for years on my canon printers.

    CR-58 chip resetter for PGI-5 & CLI-8 ink tanks. It works with all Pixma printers that use these tanks including: iP3300, iP3500, iP4200, iP4300, iP4500, iP5200, iP5300, iP6600, iP6700, MP500, MP510, MP520, MP530, MP600, MP610, MP800, MP810, MP820, MP830, MP960, MP970, MX700, MX850, iX4000, iX5000, 9000Pro

I use to use a resetter on an epsom i used to have but it wouldnt always work hence why i was shying away from that idea, CIS i think is the go as my daughter always wants to print stuff so this will be more economical.

Fair enough. So far I have had no problems with the resetter...probably reset cartridges about 80 times. CIS would probably be best for high ink usage.

Buy yourself a Colour laser Printer I have 3 Samsung CLP-300 there are very good for there really cheap price and running most with compatible toner carts. I originally brought my first one new and other the last 6 months have brought another 2 with small faults but have 2 fully running. most about $40-45 for a set of 4 that print upto 1000 pages per set. unfortunatly this model is no longer available but check out ebay they come up from time to time. if i can get my spare parts one going I will sell it cheap but it has 2 faulty but one of my jobs many years ago was office equipment technician s I could fix it but depends one that about of time evolved.

if you can get one there well worth the search.

I had a mono Samsung (B+W) for years until recently and recently switched to a Fuji Xerox CM 205B all in one.

As philquad mentioned earlier, you can buy a black and white laser now for as low as $60. They are great for the kids to print out homework etc without using all your ink on your printer.

Your best bet is to go to ebay, go to Printers, Color Laser. Decide what your budget is and have a look whats in that range. Generally toner is good for 1-3 thousand pages , the adverts should state it. Then check ebay for aftermarket toner and see how much it is......remember to take in to account how many pages you are going to get. Some Lasers ship with a "starter" cartridge that is only good for 1000 only so also check that.

I bought this one for the office, it was cheaper then buying 4 toner cartridges for the 2 year old fuji xerox printer.....

half the price of buying the exact same model locally...

Why not just buy the aftermarket ones with the chips already installed? Usually only a dollar or 2 difference in price with the no chip ones and if you buy bulk they work out alot cheaper.

true I use a epson R260 for my disk printing the carts cost me approx $2 each off of ebay so thats $12 for a set (has 6 as its photo) I did a dearch on ebay for you

they are about the same $2-$2.50
thats for 10 or these is for $37.98

I know there compatible carts but so far I have had very little problems with them in my epson.

give them a go there cheap as chips and under $2 each.

edit. 20 carts for 27.99 delivered from hong kong thats $1.40 each!! what ya got to lose?
