Default What tyres would you recommend

    Hi. Bit of advice appreciated.
Will need to replace all five normal road tyres with ATs very shortly, on a Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R 4x4 Dual Cab. Mainly for on road/dirt road/snow/ice conditions and a bit of off road driving.
Have heard conflicting reports about Coopers and most agents are trying to sell me their brands as the best. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

i run 4 tritons out to the mines, no serious 4wding though.

i have found the cheap tyres, hankook etc. last just as long and perform just as well as the expensive bridgestones etc.

the oem bridgestones the tritons come with are lucky to last 45000km....

I guess it depends on the vehicle, how it's driven and conditions, as I have had 80000km from OEM Bridgestone Duellers on a Hilux.

I run a fleet of 1000 light commercials and use a mixture of the following

    Metro - Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA
Country - Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour
    Outback - Goodyear DuraTrac
Outback / Mine - Goodyear Wrangler MTR

From memory they have 8 ply sidewalls so sidewall punctures are extremely rare. The light commercial fleet traveled 72,000,000km last financial year and the tyre bill was about $400,000 so not bad tyre wear from the wranglers.

As the topic is about tyres here are some interesting facts about all the markings on the tyres and other info.

I have Cooper 285 ATR's on my 80 series landcruiser & after 43000 km they still have 2/3 tread. I rotate them every 10000km & rotate & balance every 20000km. IMO worth the money but prone to chips in the side tread.
I know three people running various Mickey Thompson tyres & their strength is the best I have seen. Can't comment on their mileage tho..
