    Default UEC Box constant rebooting?

Is anyone else having trouble with their UEC boxes constantly rebooting?
Mine reboots each hour or at least every couple of hours.
That in itself would not be a problem other that it reverts back to channel 221 each time it does it so if I am recording something to watch later I almost always only get part of the program then the rest is on 221.
Does anyone know of a fix?
    Cheers

Box has been registered for a few months now.
Card had been out of slot around the time of registration then has remained in since.
Has been doing it since registration.
I have had the box disconnected for quite a while as I simply got pi&%$d off with it and went back to OPTUS service. have recently gone back to VAST, went through a re-activation of card and it is still doing it.

Check the STB has that last update, do a reregistration of the card and give it a few days and if it still keeps rebooting and unless someone else has a better suggestion, I'd be looking at returning it as defective.
The only problem I have noticed is if you try to use the remote too fast, it gets cranky and will reboot then but I think others have found this as well.

    Just my experience

I took the card out & photographed it to get its details, & put it back

    & I experienced rebooting problems

but after about 4-5 weeks, the rebooting problem was settling down......

I had the STB replaced by UEC for a new one

the next STB I got I did not remove the card... & it's going OK,

(I really don't know if removing the card has anything to do with it or not)

You can get the Card Number without taking the card out

Menu > Advanced Options > Information > Irdeto CA Status > Smart Card Status > Number:

I guess you have good Signal Strength & Signal Quality ?

If it still continues I would get it replaced by UEC.....

UEC say that the STB may have experienced some rough handling by Australia Post etc... that causes the Fault

    Good Luck

Ditto on 2 boxes...sounds like a faulty box...I'd contact your reseller or UEC

maybe as a last resort, wipe the contacts carefully on the card and see what that does.

Sounds like your box is failing to do its firmware update. Does it reboot every hour and display a screen that says "download in progress - please wait"? You can double-check by going into the menu->advanced options. If "DSD Upgrade" is not greyed out, it means it has not downloaded the latest firmware.

If so, downloading the latest firmware with a USB stick should sort out the problem. UEC's website has a link, and I have also seen instructions posted elsewhere on this forum.

Once you have the latest firmware in your box, it should stop rebooting every hour, and should remember the last viewed channel if it does ever reboot or is switched on.

Well sounds a bit strange it doing it just if the card is taken out.
I can certainly say that the "DSD Upgrade" is not greyed out.
I thought by the unit rebooting it would download any firmware updates.
Obviously not, I must have to do it from the UEC website perhaps.
Just confirming it reboots on the hour every hour.

I'd certainly recommend performing the firmware upgrade, which solved a lot of rebooting issues.

The process of downloading and installing VAST UEC box firmware from the UEC website is detailed in this post:

MTV . Have tried the upgrade as per your link. All I get on the front of the box is 4 numbers that come up one after the other.
    E380, E203, E100 and E05d.
No circles unless I have to hold the CH CH buttons for longer than 60 seconds anyway.
If it is the USB drive sticks I can say you can add Kingston Datatraveler G2 8GB and Imation 2GB to your not working list which also means I have run out of sticks to try.
I get a message when I try to do a DSD upgrade of "Demod Tune Error 0x8003001a" so not sure what that means either?

Just to confirm the steps.... make sure you only have that single firmware file on the USB stick.... nothing else.

With the USB in the decoder, you must have the power to the box switched off at the mains. I remove the power plug at the rear of the box.

Then, whilst pushing and holding the two channel buttons on the box, plug the power back in. (The same could be done by a second person helping you with switching the power on at the power pont instead of plugging the cable into box).

With the power now on, keep holding the channel buttons in until you see one segment on the display start moving in a circular pattern... that indictaes the file on the USB stick is being read and loading.

Once you see the circular motion on the display, you can let go of the buttons.

The rest of the installation should happen automatically.

Note... whilst doing the firmware upgrade, you must have the coax from the LNB connected to the box, as you would normally, anyhow, but I have known of people to try doing it without the box having signal, so I thought I should mention it.

If you can't get the box to read the file on the USB stick, then it's either the stick, a corrupted file, or the box is faulty, but just confirm that you have followed the above steps first.

Yep all good, have followed the steps,
Just downloaded the file directly from website but just doesnt start spinning in circles (front display).
I assume that would start within a few seconds, I was holding my buttons for at least 60 seconds and it didnt start. I am just a little wary of the Demod Tune Error message when I try doing it via DSD Upgrade

Incidentally I asked VAST why I am only getting SBS and ABC to which they replied that they have upgraded my registration and that all commercial channels are now activated.
That was yesterday. Today I still have only SBS and ABC, I just dont seem to be having any luck..............................

The Demod error I am not sure if that is from the "attempted" download or the hardware?

Sounds like it's not reading the file... so possibly doesn't like the USB sticks you are using.

You didn't just download the file directly to the USB by any chance, but downloaded it, ran the file, then copied the extracted firmware file onto the USB.... then performed the upgrade with the extracted file? eg: all you copied to the USB stick is the extracted 'upgrade.uec' file?

It should start the 'spinning' indication within 10 seconds of holding the buttons whilst power is applied.

    Progess!

    A good start.

As for not having the commercial channels still.... I'd say the card didn't receive the authorisation, so once you have the firmware issue sorted, you may need to call VAST again and have them send the info to the card again..... making sure you have the decoder turned on at the time.
