    Unit is used and in excellent condition.

    * Dual Intel Xeon 2.8Ghz (Prestonia cores, 400Mhz FSB)

    * 2.5GB HP PC2100 ECC REG SDRAM
    * 2x 36GB 15K U320 SCA2/LVD SCSI HDDS (setup as RAID 1, System disk) in correct HP Proliant Caddies
    * 2x 36GB 10K U320 SCA2/LVD SCSI HDDS (RAID 0 as Storage) in correct HP Proliant Caddies
    * 2x 72GB 10K U320 SCA2/LVD SCSI HDDS (RAID 0 as Storage) in correct HP Proliant Caddies
    * HP SmartArray 5i RAID w/64Mb cache
    * PCI & PCI-X slots
    * Dual 10/100/1000 onboard, bridgeable for bandwidth/redundancy
    * External U320 LVD port (Drive arrays, tape backup, etc etc)

    Operating System : Ubuntu 6.10 patched with symmetric multi-processor enabled

    It's typical of a sever with 8 hot swap fans in it, definitely not one to have in the bedroom and try and sleep with

    One tip with these if you don't have HP's smart start Cd download it before you install the OS as it has all the needed drivers and array utilitys. The current version is 7.9 or perhaps 7.8 for that model. The HP support site will have it.

    Re noise I sometimes work in an area with around a hundred of them and wear ear plugs while I am there.

    The fans on these start at full speed and it sounds like a Jumbo at take off but after 30 seconds or so they drop down. Not something you want to sit next to or have in the bed room thats for sure. HP make very nice gear.
