Default VU+ Duo and multisat setup option

Hi, I'm new to Vu+ though old in the sat world. I'm using my old setup run by 3 dish's.

1- fixed foxtel dish with Quad LNB.

2- fixed dish pointed to Optus D2 with dual LNB, (ubi) + LNB bracket for IS8 with dual LNB (mysat).

3- motorised C band dish must of time pointed to asiasat 5 with dual lnb.

as now my setup are 3 stb's 3 sub card with 2x 4X1 DiSEqC Switch for 2 stb's and 1 direct from foxtel dish to the third box.

my sub card are 2xIR2 (mysat) and 1xNDS1 (foxtel) i was using Relook 250s PVR for recording as single tuner.

will i do have 9x8 Multiswitch to use with setup if needed my question is can i get VU+ Duo to do multisat recording by connecting each tuner with Multiswitch or feed them by 2x 4x1 DiSEqC Switch.

does the recording work ok on multisat when it's required Multiswitch or DiSEqC etc.

    Thanks.

    Use the multiswitch.

That way you can have all dishes (LNB's) in either polarity, available to 8 tuners.

With two tuners, you should be able to view and or record two separate sats, but I don't know about recording two and watching a third simultaneously.

Perhaps it's possible if the third one you wish to watch is on the same transponder as one which is being recorded.

Someone with better knowledge of the Vu+ may be able to give you a definite answer on that.

Thanks mtv, yeah i think i would be witching same transponder but it will be nice to know if some one managed to watch the third on different sat from that is being recorded, perhaps tuner limitation but i seen a video of 4 and 5 channel recoding in VU+ Duo, don't remember if it was in same transponder or sat, i should do some search and check on that one.

    Thanks

Seeing you have the box, the multiswitch and the dishes/LNB's.... just see what recording/viewing combinations you can do.

You could feed each tuner input with a 4x1 DiSEqC Switch. I'm just using one diseqc on one port and looping internally at the moment. You should also use be able to use your 9x8 multiswitch but I've no experience with them.
Yes you can record a channel on each tuner and they can be from different sats. You could also record a 3rd and 4th channel theoretically but they can only be channels from the same TP's and then watch a 5th. Now from memory i only tried recording one channel from each tuner and watching a 3rd. That's hard core enough for me

will i missed that (looping internally) i think it will give you access to the same sat as tuner one!!, could you get pic from other sat by looping when your first tuner attached to diseqc ?

The advantage of using the multiswitch over the diseqc switches is that the diseqc arrangement will only permit one (output) connection per switch, whereas the multiswitch will permit 8 simultaneous, fully-independent connections, so even with both VU+ tuners connected, that still leaves 6 more outputs which can be connected to the other boxes... all at the same time.
