I asked Vuplus to consider implementing it into future boxes and they reckon there wasn't the demand for it and that they don't have experience in it

well as demonstrated they already have the hardware for blind scanning within the Uno and i do believe it is also built into the Ultimo ( not had a chance to play with that yet but once VIX get one i'll post back to confirm or deny ).

I was speaking with the marketing manager. Maybe there would of been a different response had I spoken with an engineer.

eye we all know that salesmen dont know their arse from their elbow when it comes to the products they sell LMAO.

we at VIX have a direct line to their tech guys, when it was pointed out by SIC of team VIX that production models of the Uno ( not the beta models mind you they were fine ) had issues with SR 30,000 frequencies they flew a tech guy over to London to investigate and repair the fault, which they did by finding the problem and releasing a patch on site at SIC's house.

just a small update for leroy.

we've had blindscan enabled within VIX for the Uno for a while now but like all other E2 boxes this required 4 passes to complete the scan each having to be run manually for Horizontal / Vertical / High and Low, now with some work by andy and Vu we have a single pass blindscan within the current beta 2.3 image, here are the results of some tests i did last night using this new format on the Uno.

for a blindscan now you just go into the menu and enter the frequency range and the symbol rate range, i left these at their defaults for this test.

this test was carried out on 28.2 east
The first part of the scan searches the satellite in question for all available transponders this took 2 minutes and 58 seconds,
then the second part of the scan kicks in automatically and scans all those found transponders,
this part of the scan took a further 5 minutes and 13 seconds, the total blindscan from start to finnish took 8 minutes and 15 seconds and found 1053 services.

i then did a manual scan of 28.2 east as normal with the following settings network scan no / clear before scan yes / only free scan no. which took 4 minutes and 22 seconds and found 1049 services

just another wee small update for you leroy.

with work by both andy and the Vu in house development team, we have implemented a new blindscan function for the Uno ( still not released but will be in 2.3). where instead of having to make 4 passes, for high / low / vertical / horizontal. the blindscan now does it all in one pass at the single press on a button once you enter your upper and lower frequency ranges. tested on multiple satellites from within the European ranges and works very very well.

the Duo does not have the hardware for blindscan. if blindscan does get the go ahead for the Duo it will be software based only if thats even possible.
