most humaxs read gamma cards but they will overheat ur card and even kill it, so make sure ur aware of it.

I agree with hu5t3ch, if you do get 1 make sure you do some kind of a mod to it to allow airflow near the card as they tend to get hot. There is discussions on this topic in the sat section.

    Cheers & Goodluck.

Unless you buy a 5400z and use the card in a cam and not the cardslot.

But there are cheaper options out there , see the thread that someone started which shows what boxes work with these cards. Some are very inexpensive.

This doesn't apply to all Humax's
Whether the box runs hot/warm or cool seems to be more associated with the age and model of the box.
I know of friends and associates that have 5400z and 5410z models that run between Burnt toast and slightly overcooked toast (Gamma chip colour) however I personally have 5400 models that look the same as the day they went in.
Of all the Humax's I have come into contact with I have never known one to kill a sellers card........ yet

Hmmmm, I can't give an exact reason but I do have a theory.

All the motherboards in the units I have that do not burn are dated between 1997 and 1999. (5400's). I have a suspicion that these (2) units were built in Northern Ireland and use somewhat different components to those units manufactured in Korea (Post 1998) or the more recent builds in India or China or indeed any of the other world wide manufacturing plants.
