tomtom
Hi,
I would like to buy my daughter a 2nd hand Garmin (seem pretty cheap).
I would want it to be easily updateable with maps, POI, etc.
What is/are the best choice(s)?

ive only been suspended once...but never banned...yet, but i am working on it...OMG after all these years...i am a paytv forum troll....erk
ok i have, a phillips screwdriver, a sidchrome socket set, life time supply of condoms, lotsa old programers, an old nokia, season interface...even a pace 400....does this make me look better than DJmatt? oh i was also a "auspink" beta tester!...but apart from that i look great in suspenders
New ones aren't that expensive & have the latest maps, NuMap Guarantee, however if your looking at second hand I suggest you research what models are discontinued & if latest maps will work on them,
"Map updates remain a bit of a bigger question mark. Garmin says that the discontinued devices will continue to have map updates made available to them, but what we don’t know is how long that will continue to be the case. Take for example some of the earliest StreetPilot devices (now just a couple of years old) which can no longer accept the latest map updates either due to space considerations or the new map format."
As far as what model is best choice, that would depend on screen size & functions you want, eg; spoken street names, choice of voices, touchscreen etc.
So you now have some research to do, hope that helps.
Cheers, Tiny

The information is out there; you just have to let it in."
I use Garmin had a navman pin(pda) after 3 years no more maps it now runs Garmin tried tomtom to me it was just ok.
Any garmin street nav unit made in the last 5 years is easy to update and add POI's even use topo maps (off road).
A brand new unit now comes with lifetime maps updates $250.00. approx.
lifetime mapping worth $189.00.
