You have to be carefull what firmware you install on a clone box.

How many of the Openboxes on the market are clones ? I thought they were just a low cost box, presumably whats been on offer lately is clones ?

I'm not sure there are clones as such. The Openbox S9 is a receiver manufactured by Fantasy in China using the Ali chipset and not related to the Openbox that brought out the x-810 etc. This might be where people are getting confused because the original Openbox has receivers that look like they come from Fortis so they are nothing to do with the Openbox from China.

it will be fine i havent had any issues with so called genuine or clone boxes
the firmware I posted was sent to me for clones.
but I do have 1 chinese so called clone with a chipset thats not on the list and its running the latest firmware (original) and has gave me no probs(yes its been turned on and off more than 4 times as per the suggestions that on the 5th time it will say its a clone)and its fine. as leroy says Its not really a openbox clone as such but a low cost ali chipset based hd reciever.

Thanks to everyone I have updated the software without andy problems and now after the update comes up with the right chip id 00d0 before the update it was wrong but the brown smart card board was the right one so all OK thanks a heap.
