    Default VAST Satellite

Hey folks. Just wondering if the Foxtel Sat is the same sat they use for Vast in WA.

I live in remote pilbara and have applied for VAST but just not sure which bird to point the dish too. Is it the optus C1/D3 156o bird?

    Cheers.

Yes, match the LNB settings in the vast decoder to the LNB on your dish, either 10700 or 11300

ok please forgive my newness and stupidity but i am now pretty stuck.

i have jumped into setting and set the LNB type to dual since i have a dual LNB. Set it to 10700 Low and 10700 High.

dish is tuned for foxtel and usually runs both lines into my foxbox. I have unplugged tuner 1 on the foxbox and plugged it into the UEC and am getting no signal.

My foxtel signal is usually about 70+% with about 8dB strength.

I am far from expert or even advanced when it comes this stuff... i just know how to point a dish.

Am i doing something wrong here or is the box just not wanting to play nicely??

    Cheers in advanced...

    Andy

You probably want Vast STB, LNB Settings:

    1. ON
    2. Single
    3. 10700

if you are using the Foxtel Dish, & you were getting all the Foxtel Channels OK

Turn Off, & disconnect the Foxtel STB all together until you get the Vast STB up & going properly

What model Foxtel STB do you have & does it have 2 LNB cables into it ?

Dual, & High & Low settings are if you have a Universal LNB....... in that case you probably need Low: 9750 & High: 10600

Set it to single not dual and make sure your LNB is not an 11300 - check the label on the LNB

Foxbox is an IQ2. I have completely disconnected the IQ2 box and unplugged the 2nd lead. Yes it does have the dual lead going into it but as stated both are now unplugged.

It is a standard foxtel dish with the LNB i linked b4. I am still getting no signal even on single LNB setting @ 10700.

The second one down is a universal, you need the first one on the list - i'm pretty sure an IQ box cannot work with a universal.
Go read the label on the LNB itself, on the dish.
    Have you tried 11300?

If you do have the second one down then use
LO: 9750 HI: 10600 on the vast box

Kinda dreading getting up on the roof atm.... It is definately the 2nd one down and has work on my IQ2 perfectly for 2 years. Besides I have to use the landcruiser as a ladder...

    I have set it to:

    Dual
    Lo: 9750
    Hi: 10600

Now are these settings correct. they are in the sat install on the UEC.

    Sat Freq: 12567
    Symbol Rate: 30000
    FEC: 3/5
    Polarization: Vertical.

    Cheers.

ok please beat me to death... i have set it for 11300. nothing happening.

I just jumped on the roof to have a look at the label but alas the pilbara 2 billion degree sun has completely disintergrated it.

I have though had a chance to see who made it and it is a strong L802.

Don't know if this is going to make much of a difference though.

I should also mention the skew i think it is (angle of the LNB) is set at 0 degrees.

In that case with an IQ2, the LNB would be a Twin/Dual Output 10700 LNB.

Use single 10700 on the Vast from one of the outputs.

Edit: For the Pilbara, the skew should be with the downlead at approx 3 to 4 O'clock looking into the Dish.
However if is at maximum signal where it is, leave alone.
Skew is the twist of the LNB in it's bracket.

    Edit2:

    Dish Setup Data Latitude: -22.3042°
    Longitude: 117.9249°
    Name: 156E OPTUS C1 | OPTUS D3
    Distance: 37776km
    Motor Latitude: -22.3°
    Declination Angle: 3.8°
    Dish Elevation: °
    Elevation: 40.1°
    Azimuth (true): 64.1°
    Azimuth (magn.): 62.6°
    LNB Skew [?]: 56.4°

    Dish Skew [?]: 90.0°

It probably isn't at max signal but it is close enough for me to never have a problem with normal fox channels and HD channels on fox.

ok looking at that red line my dish is probably stupidly low.

Can you remap it for Pannawonica WA 6716??

If you can get Foxtel OK you don't need to move the dish.
If your dish is an offset dish it will appear to face much lower than other dishes

In your first post you said you have applied for vast so what decoder are you using to try to tune into vast?

Vast uses mpeg4 not mpeg 2 that most older decoders use

    I am using a "Altech UEC DSD4121"

I have put in an application since they are going to turn of our current analogue tower but i have heard nothing back.

I put the app in on Wednesday. No i wasn't an aurora customer prior but i am kinda hoping that won't matter considering the remoteness of where i am at the moment.

The Box which came with a card was purchased in katherine NT in january.
