    Default Tecom issue

we have a DGP 10 connect via fibre link to the main system, all of a sudden we are getting all alarms from 161 thru 171 and DGP 10 tamper. We have replace the DGP with new still the same, we have seal all zone including the tamper for the DGP 10 at the terminal strip still have the same problem.

We have replace both ends of the fibre link still the same.
We have default the main challenger and check the DGP still the same.
Download to the main panel still the same.
If we depoll DGP 10 all zone are seal but the problem moves to DGP 9 or RAS 6

Fibre Link - to DGP 10 to DGP 9 to RAS 6.

    Any ideas

Remove everything off the lan, i.e. RAS 6 and DGP 9 and DGP 10. Then connect them back on one at a time to see whether or not it is DGP 10 or in fact a problem in the lan wiring between the three devices.

Because there is a fibre link my suspicions will be a ground loop issue between the three devices. Also look at power supply voltages, my guess is DGP 9 and 10 are powered by the same supply, if a regulated power supply shits itself then its more than likely putting out more than 13.8vdc which will cause voltages across all the the inputs to float above the sealed voltage.

Go to a different location on site and measure the voltage across a zone input and compare the voltage on the effected baords, as I can't remember off the top of my head what voltage the challenger looks for when it is sealed. I'm pretty sure that's where you'll find the problem, hence when you remove DGP 10 the problem moves to DGP 9.

each DGP is using it's own plug pak into the DGP 9 and DGP 10, DGP 9 is about 30 metres away from DGP 10 in a seperate building.

Have you directly wired the dgp's to the apc no fiber link? establish that the problem is related to the fibre link. Are D+ D- & 0V connected to the fibre modems at both ends? Do the fibre modems have lan termination resistors? you may need to put some 220 ohm 1 watt (by memory) across the lan at each fibre modem?

Is this a new install or return to service?

    6.9V Sealed, 4.6V or 9.2V Unsealed.

If the DGP's are all using their own plug packs, ensure that you are not using the plug pack ground wire on any of the DGP's.

470 ohm 1/4 watt for the V8 LAN.

With only a multimeter on hand you should see a reading of something between 210R and 260R between D+ and D- (Keep everything connected & powered down). If you have a value outside of this range then it's possible you might have too many or not enough termination links.

Keep in mind that you have two separate LANs on either side of the fiber link. Each LAN should have a termination at the two furthest points.

What type (Make/Model) of fiber modem are you using?

Have you tried connecting the devices directly to the APC without the use of the fiber modem yet?

    UPDATE'

The above problem was fixed by replacing the zone expander board (TS0021)

While the TS0021 was connected it cause DGP Tamper zones to go into tamper alarm

    Bit late now.
But you can get that issue if the power is a bit on the low side, seen it before when the aux output was around 12v flat with the expanders connected to the dgp. Adjusted the voltage regulator with the onboard pot to 13.8 and problem went away.

Hi guys, just reading up on your tecom problems, I have one also, the time on the event viewer has changed itself and no matter what I do i cannot get the time to reset from the 1/1/2001, The time in the bottom of the titan software is correct I even changed the settings so it read off the computer time still no luck the whole thing is messing up my time and attendance. I have been told to replace the firmware chip, But I cant see that being the problem any help it would be good ..its really done my head in cheers in advance

    Hi illhauntya2,

Check the time and date on the Titan event log for the operator login event. If that time is correct then the problem will be in the panel. If the time and date control form doesn't update the time then try through the keypad. If that still doesn't work the problem will be hardware and the board will need replacement.

If the operator login event also displays 1/1/2001 then the problem is purely related to Titan/Windows.

yeah I have been down those paths, Our agent wants to replace the firmware chip and try that, however they want to charge us for trying and if that doesnt work then they want to sell us a new board and still charge for firmware as well which isnt fair. so i was trying to do a little bit more research on Tecom.. I tired changing the time on the server it states that user has changed the time but it does not do anything... OOOO I live tecom I reckon go BOSCH
